What benchmark program to test WinXP bloat vs fresh WinXP?
I would like to see how much slower (if at all) a bloated version of XP is compared to a fresh install on the same system. By bloated I mean a bunch of nonsense software+possible hidden spyware that is not detectable.
Would Sandra be good for this purpose?

Honestly? You'll probably want to time how long it takes going from the POST screen to the desktop. Since bloated programs will slow down the registry, slow disk processing times, and increase the time until startup (due to the number of programs starting up), marking how long it takes Windows to fully boot would be a fairly nice test.
Unfortunately, I don't think there's really a "test" per say; how can you test to see how bloated something is? What I consider to be essential, you might consider bloatware. |

I'd say that if you need benchmarking software to see the difference between a "fresh" OS and a "dirty" OS, then the "dirty" OS isn't really that dirty at all. If it's noticeable, then just use the "fresh" OS.
If you're just curious, I'm thinking any OS-level testing software should work as other processes will get in the way when testing.
