6000D Performance for EverQuest

Hi all,

Before I purchased my 6000D I had posted here and in a few other places trying to figure out how the 128meg X300 would handle EverQuest...not EQ2 but the original. I thought I would provide a little feedback on that front in case anyone else drops in looking for the same info (I didn't find much posted anywhere regarding EQ). Anyway, I was VERY pleasantly surprised that the X300 handled if very well clear up to full screen resolution. To my amazement I was even able to dual box on it i.e. having and playing 2 accounts up at once (both accounts played in 1024 x 748). I am not a techy to the extent that I look into fps etc. but it was far more then just adequate...even playing in zones with heavy numbers of people etc....ran smooth as silk.

Again, I know EQ isn't anywhere near as popular (or as demanding) as CS / BF/ Halo / Doom etc. but thought some peeps might benefit from my experiment As it turns out, the 6000 is just a little bigger then I wanted for a travel companion so I am selling it but performance wise (what an awesome view on that widescreen) it chewed thru EverQuest with zero problems. It did make me wonder how the 700m would fare with EQ tho.

I also play a lot of EQ1 on my 6000 (Gruog on Prexus) It can pretty much handle anything I throw at it including BF2 so eq1 is nothing.

If you want something smaller and lighter for eq1, the 600m is perfect for that. I much prefer the size and weight of the 600m when I had one, but gave that up for much better performance in other games..and the 6000 was $100 cheaper.

Don't get the 700m expecting to play any games except solitaire. It has the very old "intel extreme graphics" and that just plain sucks.
