Sorry to hear this Brad and others. " Arnio " almost got me too but I became suspicious of him and didnt send any money. Sure glad I trusted my instincts.

What a bastard. His email came to me as "golf man" and his email address he went by was golfman20005@yahoo.com . I also posted about our transaction on this board, about a week ago, when I believed he was a scam.

I tried to warn others but i guess he was "rounding us all up" around the same time frame. The Mutherfrucker!!

After a little investigating of the address posted above, it looks like it is the office of the sunset park appartments in Burnaby, B.C.

Here is the webpage http://www.sunsetparkapt.com/ and the phone number to the office is 604-291-8197 Fax: 604-291-7999

Give our buddy Ron a call and see what he has to say for himself!

Two years ago I got ripped off to the tune of $2,000 from a web designer who provided a couple incomplete "beta" templates and a bunch of screen shots and that's it - I don't think he was out to rip me off; just your typical young guy with talent who takes on way too much work and once he gets behind he sticks his head in the sand situation that is all too common in the freelance web design world.

Anyway, I used Paypal but paid with my Visa. Visa got all $2,000 back from Paypal by simply reversing the charges. Paypal was pissed - they actually called me (try getting a call from them when you are the one with the problem) to ask why I didn't go through their fraud investigation process first. They contacted the guy who was not able to provide them with proof of the job being completed, so tough luck there.

The moral of this story is always, ALWAYS use a credit card with Paypal - you get the best of both worlds that way, protection from your bank, and an anonymous transaction with the seller so you don't have to hand your card number over to strangers - as my story shows, that puts the burden on Paypal, not you, to resolve the dispute. Once the bank reversed the charge on them they paid attention in an awful hurry.

i TOTALLY agree with what marsknight said about the fact that for every scammer there are 10 good honest people out there.
i recently bought a laptop from bluedevils32701 . Great condition, everyone should trade with him lol

anyway bradley, hope you recover all your funds! and it sounds like you would!

Way to get your money back!!!

I lost money on ebay myself but it was a sum of $3500.00. No luck getting my money back from Ebay. But my home owners insurance said they would be willing to cover $1500.00 so you may want to talk to them. The money that was stolen from you want do them any good!!! Have A Great Day

Guys...another forum I read has an employee of Paypal who works in their fraud department. He's constantly questioned by people about scams.

This is his answer: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/we...cy_spp-outside

Read the whole thing...carefully. If you follow it, exactly, Paypal will cover any lost funds...but most people don't go through the processes they list in the link.

I, myself, don't use paypal. I don't think I can. I got conned out of $400 about 4 years ago and I had my Visa do a chargeback on it. Then Paypal sent a collection's agency after me(which I had to settle after I threatened to sue them since I felt Paypal messed up...but I was dealing with a collections company then, and not Paypal...so they let me pay $40 and pulled it from my credit report...still lots of fun). I'm fairly certain that Paypal wouldn't accept me as a customer now...but I'm not signing up either way. I operate under money orders only and I verify that I know how to contact seller. There's always a risk though...so never risk more than you can afford to lose.

Good luck.
