Another success story, with help from a friend in the US I got my 7800 shipped to Sweden
![]() Installed and applied AS5 to both CPU and GPU and everything is up and running smoothly. A question though, I would like to check my CPU and GPU temps to make sure I didn't goof up when I applied the AS5 but can't find temps. I tried using both Motherboard monitor and Aida32 but none of them will give me what I need. What are you guys using? Thanks in advance and I have to agree with 99% of the users; this site rocks! =) |

twoos, do ypu have to pay tax on stuff you buy from abroad? Are eBay sellers willing to put a sticker on the box saying that it's a gift, this would save me from paying 25% of the products value in tax.

Thats a nice thing of Sweden to do. The best country in the world, or so they say, Norway has taxes on everything. I don't even have a job and therefore don't pay income tax, but i allready hate it. 25% of 350 bucks is quite chunk of money for me. I just hope I can slip through customs without paying a fortune

.twoos, your video card driver (hope you're using a custom one, much better performance ) should give you a temp read out in the advanced display settings. Be aware that it'll report temps ~5C too high, so if it reads 55C you're really only at 50C

BTW: Are many getting the S-ATA hard drives? I have had mine for less than 2 weeks, and got the old school P-ATA interface.
I assume that when the 7800GTX upgrade is done, no way to convert to SATA while in there at the same time? Dell should allow the ethernet to be upgradable to 1000, as well. (I know it's attached to the board, and can't be (easily?) done.

I am about to install 7800gtx and flash the bios.
I have a 9 cell battery but not the 130 watt power adaptor. Can I do this safely or do I need to wait until my adaptor comes in? |

DTOG - you are correct, there is no way to upgrade the onboard to Gigabit.
hulk2006 - you need to wait on your ac adapter.

Simplyphp: How did you get an SATA port and any way to get mine upgraded to SATA? Since I just got this laptop, I am wondering why I got got stuck with the legacy PATA port? (Hence, why I was thinking this might be user upgradable) At least techie user upgradable?

AFAIK there's no real difference as of right now in the laptop world, so you should be OK.
