If you do this mod, this means that you can't use AC power on airplanes anymore, right?

Dell Home has the 9 cell and power brick on sale.

I just order the 9 cell for $110 (- $75 concession that I had)

I still have to order the 7800GTX.....

I would be upgrading from a x300 128mb.
Should I keep the x300 to put back in someday or as an emergency spare?

Does anyone forsee any issues with the 7800GTX and 1440x900 WXGA screens?

Wouldn't it make sense if i was going to get a M170 to just order a 9300 with the stock card and do this upgrade to the 7800 myself? Would save a bunch of $$$ Priced this out just now...

Inspiron 9300 Intel® Pentium® M Processor 760 (2 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Operating System (Office software not included) Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
Display 17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
Memory 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
Video Card ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X300 64MB HyperMemory™
Hard Drive 60GB 7200rpm Hard Drive

$1700

Thats with the 9 cell battery. All I would need then would be the card and supplies. How hard would this be?

You can get some off that with the current coupons, or wait for better ones.

that listing was done using the $450 off coupon... I am in the group (I think there are a lot of us) trying to decide if i should wait for a 40% or just bite the bullet and use the $450 off. I have a feeling if the 40% comes out however, it will not apply to the XPS, which is the only real reason I am waiting. I can do the 9300 right now with this or a similar setup , or wait for the 40% and get a xps.... decisions, decisions... I just know with my luck that if i go with the 9300, A 40% will come out 3 weeks from now and make the xps affordable for me and then I will be kicking myself

call mark... while you still can so that you can order the 7800... look at the sticky above then get the power brick and the 9 cell from ebay... its a whole lot cheaper.... yes you can upgrade from an ati -----> 7800 (as long as its a 9300 inspiron)...... and yes, itll come out cheaper if you buy the 9300(basic) with coupons and mod it to an xps m170....
