Yes it is the right one. I dont think Dell made 2 kinds. Whoever started the rumor that you needed a heatsink should refund me the $13.00 I spend for paper weight.....LOL

I sympathize with the thin-wallet thing, but if you're seriously not upgrading your laptop for two years, you should defintely think about doing this mod (if it really works 100% every time and is as easy as all of this discussion makes it sound)...you'll jump from ~4500 3dmark05 points w/an overclocked 6800 to over 7000 with an overclocked 7800, and the jump in performance that this corresponds to in games cannot be overstated...it would really keep you going over the next two years, that's for sure!

Can anybody comment on using the 1.6GHz processor w/7800? Is that CPU powerful enough so that games wouldn't be CPU-limited anyway, though? Just asking, as it's something to consider...you might want to do the CPU pin-mod that fat clown has done as well, and that's going to cost more $$ (though not much from what I've heard)...

I think I'll just spend the extra 200-300 dollars and buy the higher end of the Pentium M processor and just pop that in. But prolly next year this time. If I can currently play my games with what I have here, by upgrading my video I should be more then happy currently. Laptops scare me on overheating, I had a 600m before this 9300, and I sold the 600m to buy a 9300. Only to have the buyer get pissed about something frying on it and going after me. So I'm just going to try my hardest to avoid overheating. My BF2 clan matches can go for hours, especially in the CAL league now.

It's a good thing that I'm doing these upgrades while they have these cards in, and that I found this website at the right time, a little late, but not too late. I ordered my 7800 for 417.34 w/shipping and tax. The card should be shipped out in 4 days and I'll recieve prolly within the week. I have to now shop on Ebay for the 2 parts the battary and the power adaptor. What should I so with the old Battary and Adaptor, can I sell them on Ebay?

Ok so I install the gaphics Cards, then sawp in the new Battary and new power cord then run the boot disk? Meaning the first thing I should do is install the card then run the bootdisk?

THis is the wrong one right? because it says 9 cell.

Flash the Bios first with the Bootcd, then flash it again with the XPS2A04 bios then replace the card.

By the way, that battery is a 6 cell, 53Whr, the 9 Cell is 80Whr. Make sure its 9 cell before bidding.

Depends, on how you go by doing this. If you openly tell them what's going on and that you want to upgrade and give them your service code 2 things will prolly happen. 1) You don't get the 7800 GTX 2) They'll keep record and yeah you'll lose your warranty.

I just told them that I purchased a broken XPS gen 2 on Ebay and needed parts to repair with and gave them a second address and bought the stuff under my mother's name. So I got all the parts to my second address with no problems. I can't wait to start playing with my 7800, do you think as far as current games are concearned will I notice much of a differnce in the games?
