When you flashed the bios, did it work fine until after you swapped the cards? |

I know this sounds elementary but make sure it is plugged in all the way into the laptop and make sure it is plugged in at the 3 way on the adapter. I will get that message if it doesn't get the best connection. Oh and I am using a REVA01 adapterb with my 6800 Ultra in 9300 with no problems

Anyways do you have a 130w Power supply? And the 9 cell battery? Did you uninstall the old video card drivers? Did you flash to an Xps Gen2 Bios? Double check the steps you've taken within the first page. Maybe you missed something and caused the slow mode. Need to know where your at in the mod state Last edited by Primu$; 02-10-2007 at 09:35 AM. |

And thanks to all of you for the great advice, but I just recieved another adapter purchased via eBay today and it was Rev. a05, needless to say with this one i was able to boot right up. All seems well thus far, however I do not know for sure if it is running at full speed. It does seem a lot better though.. I'm currently running the 97.46 drivers and they seem to have a crippled control panel. I downloaded these from dell's site, is there a coolbits reg. entry for these? I'm running Vista home prem. atm, still new to vista.. so you know how that goes! ![]() Once again, thanks for all the helpful hints and advice.. seems like my 9300 has been reborn!! |

Boot without the PSU, but plug it in when the Windows loading screen appears. Then everything should be fine. My problem was that I didn't have the 130W but only the 90W for my 9300. The above mentioned way got it working for me with my 7800 GTX BUT........ When using the 90W PSU the temperature reading from the 7800 GTX was 110 degree celcius constantly - regardless of booting up while the computer was cold or after playing 10+ minutes of HL2, Oblivion or other. I didn't believe this reading, especially because the fans seemed to be spinning up/down according to what I should expect according to what I did (playing Word vs. playing HL2). The PSU that I recieved less than an hour ago is OEM (ie. bought through Dell) and is labeled REV A01. But it works also when booting. The rest of the PSU label is: CN - 0X9366 - 71615 - 6B3 - 0C11 (Made in China) REV A01 I can guarantee that the "0" preceeding X and C are numbers as I have entered them above. They may be letters. I have previously bought a PSU through eBay. The shop described it to be REV A02 but I got a REV A00 that didn't work when booting. Fortunately they refunded it. The price premium for me in Denmark (eBay vs. Dell) is app. USD $40 vs. USD $88. After having had bad experience ealier the choice was clear to me, so I would advice everyone to make DA..ED sure they get what they are seeking, i.e. ask the seller and be sure to trust them. By the way... The ATI X300 stinks... My 7800GTX rocks... I'm drooling but very tired, because my night sleep-time have just been converted into play-time... |

Hey all I have a question...
So I just got a 9300 with a 7800gtx installed but I was having problems with the power adapter, so I bought one off of ebay (A01 - didn't realize it mattered at the time). Anyway with the new power adapter I get ~ 4500 in 3dmark05 and ~6700 with the other power adapter. Thus obviously with the new adapter it is running in low power mode. Now I noticed that the computer is running the stock dell 9300 A05 bios; the graphics card is unrecognized in the bios. Would the power adapter I bought work correctly if I installed the XPS bios? Can I just install the XPS bios that is on the dell site or do I need a special one? Thanks all!

Also, if you do install the XPS bios you can not just install the stock ones. You'll get a hardware mismatch error, you need to get the hacked bios iso and burn it to a cd or make a bootable USB key.

Yes, I am sure that the card installed is the 7800gtx; I went ahead and installed the hacked xps gen2 bios but now I can't boot with my battery installed (6 cell battery); my question now is - is there any way I can put the 9300 A05 bios back on the laptop?

If you used the skeetj boot disk you can just follow the instructions on the first page of this thread
