I just had a complete success. I installed a P M 735 pinmod to 2.26, 2 gigs of ram and my new 7800 Ultra. I bought the northbridge heatsink but I didn't end up needing it as it was a new one already installed. I just bought my 9300 about 2 weeks ago so it was a newer one.
Thanks a lot for the information, great guides.

Both files are in 3RDPARTY DIR. You can revert to the

9300 bios any time as well.

---i got the bootcd from clown (thanks again!!)..
Hey, That link you provided doesnt work. When I click on the free button, it tells me a bunch of crap, but never lets me download the file.

I must be a major noob sometimes. I got my USB drive bootable and all of that. When I got to flash my bios with the IXPS2A01.Hacked.exe file, it tells me the file is missing. Or, it tries to read it from the CD drive. So I burned it to see if it would work. It spins up the cd then says bad file name, or whatever. What the hell am I missing? I would love to get the boot cd Iso, but that site sux. I got my 7800 sitting here in a box just waiting to be plugged in.. grr. Any help?

Thanks

hehehe well, I would love to post some benchmarks, only problem, USPS is evil and I am waiting on the 130 W power brick to come lol. My CPU is undervolted and operating at 660 MHZ LOL! and my 7800GTX is underclocked even below stock settings lol. However, I still kicked out 12,777 3D Mark 03. So go figure! But once I get the 130 W power brick, this thing is gonna toast!! lol

No, I am positive Gateway does not have support for a 7800 in the bios. Plus the cooling requirments will not sufficient in the gateway.

Will the 12 cell battary work with the 9300's? For this mod? I know the dell website says it won't but Ebay Websites say that it does work. Anybody know? it's only 10-20 more dollars for the 12 cell. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-DELL-Inspiro...QQcmdZViewItem

Many thanks for sharing all of this guys. I'm tempted to do this after xmas (holiday jobs rock) espcically since I already have two 9 cells anyway. Can I get a confirmation on whether I need the north bridge heatsink or not (I may have missed it in the thread)?

Also, for school I usually bring my 65watt AC adapter that I have since a) it's a little smaller and lighter to carry and b) I leave my 90watt plugged in and ready to go behind my desk. Would it be possible to do this with the 90 watt as my class adapter and the 130watt at home? I was thinking I might have to start up on battery, then plug it in once booted. Slower card speeds would not be a worry in class if this worked.

As for cleaning out your former nVidia drivers, is unisntalling using a uninstall manager and then cleaning the registry good enough?

Thanks

thats risky... but in theory it should work just as long as it puts out the same voltage, wattage and amperes as the 9 cell... the risks are... 1.) thats probably a low end low quality knockoff..... 2) ebayer could be non legit 3) the specifications might not be the same as a 9 cell one......
