Sounds a bit fishy bawalker. I'd try some nvflash commands on the card to see if it was still somewhat operational. Also, I'm assuming you are talking about the 6800 ultra and not the regular 6800 (vanilla). When you put the ultra in, it should show the same message about needing the 130W power brick.

hmmmm... I assume you got the XPS BIOS right now on your Inspiron 9300 ? Wouldn't X300 be incompatible with XPS BIOS ? That might be the reason you can't swap cards back with XPS bios installed ...

The power supply hasn't showed up yet (tomorrow) but the battery arrived today. When booting I have the X300 still in and it boots absolutely fine with that. Fully operational showing the A01 XPS Gen2 bios during boot. However when I swapped out the X300 for the 6800, the screen never comes on, the power light lights up and just stays there. I'm thinking a dead card. Unless someone knows how to run nvflash commands...

1. Expensive 2. None left in eBay? Rarely any left.

I've got a question, my I9300 came with a 80 WH Battery, 7200 mAh and I am uncertain if that is the 9cell battery this upgrade needs, so I'm stuck. There is a number "TYPE U4873" but I just am unsure if this is the right battery. Nowhere does it say 9cell, but I'm guessing it is. Anyone tell me what I've got?
EDIT: I think I figured it out. 9 cell is the 80WH 7200 and I am set with that, now all I need is the adapter and the 7800! And to sell this 6800.

Hey all, I got my 9300 working FLAWLESSLY! It turns out the 6800 appearantly was a bad card because I found a used 7800GTX on ebay for under $300 and snagged it. I stuck it in, and instant working system.
Does anyone know why the regular GeForce Drivers from the nVidia site won't support the GF Go 7800GTX card??? The latest drivers available I found are the 84.xx series. Dells drivers are even older. Where can I get the most optimzed drivers or would an INF mod work?? |

goto laptopvideo2go.com and you can get drivers there. the 156.55 drivers don't even need a modded inf file to work and they gave me the best performance on my m170.

Got the 7800 for $250, like new as far as i can see, and the adapter for $32. I love how I am about 3+ years late to this upgrading your I9300 spree. At least it's not costing me $600+.. I mean I can play crysis on my vanilla 6800 on med-high perfectly smooth, this will be great once overclocked.

Not sure if anyone reads this board still in this day in age, but I am playing crysis on high and 1024x768 res, running excellent. I am expecting my 130 watt adapter tomorrow, but I DO have the battery and it works. I really didn't think it was supposed to work (7800 gtx) without the power adapter. But it works, boots into windows and it's all great. Like I said crysis is great. The only issue I have is my CPU won't go to it's pinmodded speed of 2.13 when plugged in to the lower adapter, only when it's not. Which tells me obviously that is the only reason I will need the adapter. Man I love this new upgrade.

If your not using the 130W power brick, then your not utilizing the full potential of the 7800GTX.
Running the 7800GTX in low power consumption will run Crysis at 1024x768 on high fairly easily, you'll notice a performance increase when you get the better brick. Do you still have that 6800 for sale?

Hmm, that's excellent then. I can't wait to get my new brick tomorrow. If it's already this nice on a 90 watt, I'm happy. I do have the 6800 for sale, it's an amazing card, videos on youtube of crysis on it on med-high. Unfortunately I doubt anyone here would be interested since I am really looking to get the most I can for it, and an ebay buyer would get me that, but on here I've noticed prices are much lower. So basically, I'm trying to sell it for 235 minimum. Thanks for the info Skillz.
