dell sells a 12 and a 16. Both are labeled by dell to be for the XPS and only the XPS, while the 9 was labeled for the XPS & the 9300.

Hey, got everything up and running, now that i have my 130 W power brick. Scored a nice 14,117 on 3D Mark 03 lol. Only problem, I cant O/C, when I adjust the sliders and hit apply, it test the setttings, i hit apply, ok. Then, when I go back into the NV Control panel, it resets the clock settings back to stock 400 x 1.06 GHZ. I installed the coolbits tweak, even tho I didnt need it. Still not sure what the deal is. O, and should I update my BIOS to the A05 for rthe XPS?
Thanks

I realize though that my 1400x900 screen will probably not bet compatible with all of this? After all, the XPS2 BIOS was probably never intended to be run with anything but WUXGA. Anyone think it still might work?

What does it take to make a thread a sticky? This thread should OBVIOUSLY be at the top for all the 9300 owners out there....or is this a 7800/xps owners forum now?

No, I used the guide to switch out my Go 6800 Ultra to 7800 GTX in my XPS Gen 2, so I think it's valuable to everyone.

Does the screen size matter?
Will it matter doing this if I only have the 1400X900 screen?

Here's a question for ya: I'm in Canada studying, but I bought my laptop from Dell Latin America because of where I live outside North America (no XPS available, what I bought was the highest they could give me). I bought a 2 year with it. Now, if I call up Dell Canada and ask them for a 7800 Go GTX will they
1) Redirect me to Dell International since I purchased the laptop outside Canada, probably dashing my hopes of getting a reasonably priced card 2) You think that if I can buy a 7800 that they will dash my warranty right there and then, or willl they not contact Dell LA and so when I'm home they would be none the wiser (at least for things not requiring them to actually look at the vid card). Thanks

Do I flash the BIOS before or AFTER installing the 6800 ULTRA card? Is anyone having any luck using the cd,instead of USB key? I don't have a usb deal so I'd have to go buy one. Can I just download and install the xps2 bios from the dell website instead of from a thrid party? I'm a little afraid of it having spyware.
How long does it take a n00b to crack into the 9300 and install the card? I have mechanical experiece, and have fiddled with desktop machines...only thing I have done to a lappy is install ram. I just read the dell documentation(after I ordered everthing) and it looks like it's going to be tough. Maybe all the steps aren't neccassary? Last edited by FrOmAn; 11-21-2005 at 04:16 PM. |
