Everyone I spoke with was knowledgable and friendly, taking the time to thoroughly answer questions. Hypersonic accepts a wide range of payment options. For paying by direct wire transfer, they gave me a 1% discount off the total final price (not alot, but a nice gesture). I'll post updates of my exepriences with Hypersonic, including a reivew of the system once I get it. Hopefully it will help others the way previous posts have helped me. While I still have a couple days to change my mind, as of now I'm not going with any custom graphics or paint job. A large reason for this is as follows:
Doing reseach on forums is great, but it tends to make a person paranoid because of the inevitable customer/technical service "horror stories" that are posted. Hypersonic allows the return of systems within 7-days with no restocking fee, or within 30-days for a restocking fee. Depending on the paint job and/or custom graphics you get, returing the laptop (even within the first 7 days) may not be allowed, or at the very least will cost a 25% restocking fee. It seems that quite often systems with initial problems will always have problems. Therefore, I want to have the option of returning the laptop if it has problems right out of the box. As I feared - another later ship date from Hypersonic:
Quote:
I don't mind waiting to get what I want, I just wish I could be reasonably sure this latest date is somewhat certain. And why was a time given along with the ship date? Hypersonic's never done that before. DB, is your expected ship date still unchanged? Last edited by Hoss; 11-03-2005 at 01:23 PM. |

I actually own four AW desktops, one AW laptop, and two self-built rigs. I drive two rigs. One is a 2004 Toyota Highlander. The second is a 2001 PigglyWiggly Shopping Cart (imported from Alabama cause I like their shopping carts better).
ZGold550, u wanna come over and share some Mad Dog 20/20 with me?

My shipdate as of now is still 11/25. That is 11/25/05 not 11/25/06. But is that 11/25/2005 or 11/25/3005 ? That I know not. If I were waiting on the Dell XPS 2 with AMD X2 and 7800 GTX in Chameleon with custom paint it would be 3006 at the earliest . . . oh, here come the neg repping D3ll trollz . . .

Hey guys, please don't yell at me, but check out this thread...
http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=115459 ...and give me your thoughts. -------------------------- I'm leaning toward switching to the Sager, unless someone can convince me to stay with Hypersonic by adressing the issues in the above thread. Any Hypersonic reps reading this thread.......? Last edited by Hoss; 11-04-2005 at 04:26 PM. |

Sager
Is also dependent on when Clevo releases the product. If you are that desperate for this machine with what you have listed, its not going to land any faster by switching labels.
Sager maybe cheaper and if its a drab gray/black block of plastic and wires you want fine get it. Those who have or are ordering a Hyper do so because its what we want. We all did the research and thats why we landed here. If your waiting for someone to tell you what you should do, then you should have listened to that old Dell commercial. Its your money not ours. The Sager I'm looking at is the 5720, with a P-M CPU and 7800 GTX graphics card - and it's available now.
I'm not looking for someone to tell me what to do. I'm looking for some opinions on the relative speeds of the two system, and to see if anyone has reason to believe the December 2 ship date may actually happen. The rep (Allison) at Hypersonic I talked to was no help at all. In fact, when I asked when I asked what date they expected to receive the MB, she said she had no idea, and suggested I ask around on the forums. Talk aout passing the buck!! |

Its like they say
You are comparing 2 totally different machines/chipsets. The PM is fine, the FX is fine too, its that one is more powerful than the other. If you want the PM maybe you should look at the Turino AMD machines as well. Speedwise they are too close to care.
Just that I agree with some of the others with the '"Centreno" chipset you maybe short changing those games you already bought. Not that they wont run but you will not get the "Big Bang" that they would give you on the FX. If your ordering the Sager now because of the wrong price quote, take advantage of it. But you'd probably kick yourself when the FX's start rolling out because you didn't want to wait. Last edited by SoloMan; 11-05-2005 at 12:44 PM. |
