Please Help! A single vertical line on my screen out of nowhere
It is so weird. Today when I start of my i9300, I got this single thin green vertical line on the right side of my laptop screen... I tried restarting thinking that it might because of some apps running behind... but to my surprise, it shows the same vertical line when it starts too... I tried changing the resolution, but still it won't go away....
guys, if anyone of you have encountered this problem, please help me out... thnks

My guess is that this is a hardware problem, and not a software problem.
Could be a bad contact in the ribbon that connects the LCD to the motherboard, or it could be something on the screen itself. Try tilting the screen all the way back and see if it disappears. Unfortunately it's not likely to stay fixed if it happens to fix itself. |

My friend had a vertical line appear when his GPU/LCD screen hit a certain temperature. The vertical line did NOT appear on the CRT monitor we hooked his laptop up to, so that pretty much narrowed it down to the LCD. He had Dell send him a new screen and his replacement screen doesn't have any issues.

Ya definatly hook that thing up to an external monitor, that should narrow it down quick... Then just call DELL, they are usually good about replacing things (although you might be on the phone for an hour troubleshooting with them)

It's a faulty transistor. Happened to me once. The lcd needs to be replaced.

I have a pixel dimmed not completely dead yet. I magnified it with my magnifyer (on hand). The pixel was half dead and half-alive (dimmed).
