Hammermd,
Could you add 430/1150 to the boot cd? I think that will get us to the desktop settings which is probably the highest some of us may want to go?

430/1150 and 430/1200 are already on there, guys...I'm glad everyone's finding this thing so useful...I can't believe that site I uploaded the disk to is completely free with all the bandwidth abuse that must go on...

I do not think AtiTool is very trust worthy right now. I've played Half-life, WoW, Doom3, Quake4 and I do not see any visul effects from overclocking. I'm currently clocked at 440/1200. In Rivatuner the clocks are reported as 438.2/1197

I'm trying to create my own .rom files using NiBitTor then burn them onto the CD. When I try to flash I get some kind of mismatch error saying my board is unknown. Has anyone else gotten this problem? I think maybe I'm doing something wrong when saving the edited BIOS in NiBitTor. Here is what I'm doing:
Tools...Read Bios...Select Device I choose my card Read Bios into NiBitTor (After I do this, vendor says Unknown) Adjust clock settings Save Bios Burn to CD Am I missing anything here? Thanks

Yes, vendor says 'unknown' for me, too...also, when I flash, it says 'unrecognized board' or some such; however, the crc numbers (or whatever the hell they are) are always exactly the same...those strings of numbers should be exactly the same as one another (I think one is read from the BIOS and the other is read from the file to be flashed)...I take five seconds and scan quickly for any differences whenever I flash, just in case I made a mistake creating the file...anyhow, if all you change is the core and memory clocks and save the file, it should be fine...just select 'Y' when you flash and no worries! THe only thing that could really fubar your card is if you accidentally put the DDR speed into the memory clock slot in Nibitor...though that is very unlikely, even, since it shows you the final speed right next to the window...go for it, bud!

Well, I think I might know what the problem is. I could have to do with something as stupid as me not burning the .rom files properly. I was just burning them straight onto the CD that contains the .iso you gave everyone. The files seem to burn ok and show up when I do a dir/w but there must be something screwed with just straight burning. I'm going to download the new .iso you provided and try that. Did you by chance put any 1350 mem clock .roms on there? Anyone else try that high?

No, I didn't. You should be able to edit the .iso with any program that allows this...it was created with UltraISO, so you might try that (jam it in a Google)...

The problem was I was just burning the .roms straight onto the CD and not editing the ISO...duh
Works fine now, thanks hammermd. Although, I flashed to 450/1350 and ran 3DMark05. Artifacts started appearing during the final test. Score was 7518..will have to throttle back a bit EDIT: flashed to 440/1350, 440/1300 still had some artifacts on the final test. Flashed to 450/1250 and ran two tests: 7455 with no artifacts that I could see. Running ATI tool would probably show something, but if I can't see it, I don't care..lol

I should probably update my ATI tool as well, as my card runs fine at 435/1250 and could probably handle more but ATI Tool errors held me back.
When I get home from work I'll probably go for 440/1300 and if it's steady there I'll leave it be. I'll add AS5 soon but like someone pointed out these cards are most likely voltage limited and not heat limited so I doubt it will do anything. I know we all want to push our cards to the max, but eventually we have to wonder if we'll actually notice that extra 10 or 20 mhz while playing games.

You may find your previous stable overclocking not that stable after you try this GPU killer!
Running this test in loop (up to 100 times) can detect more artifacts than any other games or ATItool. When Quake4 or NFSMW may push my 7800 temp to lower 70s, 30 minutes' Pixel Shader test easily makes the temp pass 100 degrees! It's a "dangerous" test if you loop it, so be careful not to fry your new card! ![]() |
