Networking Vaio vid feed to a tv - is it possible?

Greetings. I know it is possible to send video from a computer to a tv. I own a Vaio FS550, and have no idea it is possible to do so with this model, and if so, how to do it. I asked the Best Buy staff about this a few months back, and it was like staring into the eyes of a chicken: they had no idea about this at all.

Does anyone know if this can be done? I've been to friends' homes, and watched video from their computers channeled through their televisions, so I know that in general, it can be done.

Many thanks for any feedback offered.
