Yeah, since no one can seem to really help with my above post, how about this:

Does anyone with a 7700 have the Audigy 2 ZS sound card? I was thinking of getting one. How is it?

It's great, but you need good headphones to get the most out of it. You've never played Doom 3 properly til you play it with an audigy and some headphones.....in the dark.

You should be aware that you won't be able to use the audigy to play audio through the PC speakers, unless you run the output from the audigy to the input of the built-in speakers, but the quality would suffer.

Ok. NEW PROBLEM: I sat down to burn some cds today and the darn thing wont burn. Itll convert, burn, and then when its closing the disc itll give me the error message along the lines of "couldnt burn properly, check if disc is clean etc). I tried like 5 different speeds, 5 diff discs. diff files. even files i remember burning not more than 3 weeks ago. But nope. all dont burn. The discs r from the same spindle of discs i have been using for some time now. So it shouldnt be the discs. The only thing I really CHANGED on my comp recently (or since my last burn) was the Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA card and new video drivers. Other than that. Nothing. Any ideas? Im not sure which drivers I would need for this dvd/rw burner anyways.

Hello folks. Is this the latest thread on drivers for the Area51 7700 or is there a newer thread?

I am looking to update my chipset drivers and need to figure it all out. Just making sure that I am looking at the right thread.

Thank you!

^ Yeah this is the right thread, the drivers you're looking for should be on the first post.
PS> sorry for the late reply

NOT true. You can get the audigy card to play through the internal speakers. Here is the direct link to the thread that tells you how, http://www.notebookforums.com/thread100197.html

Yes I have it set up to play through internal speakers works really well, don't forget Fn-F1 to play sound through all speakers.

Its also set up to play through 5.1 speakers and is really simple to switch between the 2.

Hi guys I need some help. I'm not a computer guru and for some reason I can't burn cd's anymore. Do you know exactly what I need to download? I've had my laptop for a little more than a year now and have never done any firmware updates.

The hard drive in my 7700 is "Promise 2+0 Stripe/RAID0 SCSI Disk Device". Will the driver on this thread work 4 it?

My laptop died twice in the last 2 weeks. Same thing happened both times. Laptop froze, when trying 2 restart it then freezes at some point during the windows loading bar so theres absolutely nothing ya can do with it.

If you try going into safe mode it freezes at loading your personal settings.
If you try to reinstall windows it says that "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer"

The only thing i could do both times is use the recovery disk. Then ya have to go 2 the trouble of reinstalling everything and changing all your settings back to normal (Its been so long since iv seen those arrows on the shortcut icons and heard that annoyin windows startup tune). I just hope i dont have to do it a third time. I thought this driver might help
