My Pacificbreeze cooler review
So, I saw some good reviews of it being used on XPS2's... and I bought one. Well, actually, I was so confident it would rock, I bought three. Two for Christmas presents.
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834996501 I use i8kfangui for my temperature readings. Quite often, after hours of playing World of Warcraft, raiding Molten Core and Zul'Gurub for hours... My Video Card maxes out at 95 celcius. It never went beyond it, but I was told thats where the card started to throttle itself, for thermal protection. After 8 hours of gaming and raiding non-stop, using the cooler, my video card's temperature has maxxed out at 82 celcius. Before cooler: 95 celcius After cooler: 82 celcius Thats a 13 degrees celcius drop! There you have it ladies and gentlemen. This cooler kicks ass. Its not a pain in the ass like the other ones that lift your whole laptop up and make it uncomfortable to type. It looks good. Very portable. And it shows resulults. I look forward to overclocking, now that I dont have to worry about heat so much. |

2 Quick questions:
Can you actually switch off the blue lighting even if u have the fans going? Or is it just one switch that turns the fans and blue lights on? Another thing, how quiet is it once you have it running?

From what I've read you can't turn off the lights for the cooler. Its about 21 dba which is near the same noise level as someone wispering to you from 5 feet away. DBa guide here: http://www.lhh.org/noise/decibel.htm This post here has a review on notebook coolers: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=123011 Try page 3 of the notebook coolers thread.

Q: Can you turn off the LED lights?
A: No, the same switch that turns on the unit turns on the lights. But it'd be hella-easy to disable the LEDs. Q: How loud is it? A: On it's 'quiet' mode, it's a bit quieter than the system fans running on high, full blast. On its 'loud' mode, it makes my laptop sound like a desktop PC. Nothing abnormally loud. I keep it on the loud mode, and I'm happy. |

82?? Wow. After hours of heavy gaming on mine, it only goes up to 72 - 74 celcius. I use a Targus podium coolpad.

More good news!
Previously, completely stock - I could not use the auto-overclock function. It would lock up my system after about 30 mins. However, enabling auto-overclock... and drastically increasing my framerates, after 4 hours of gaming my video card hit a max of 86 celcius - and it didnt lock up once! I love this cooler. |

The coolers are available without the LED's but
they are not made by Pacific Breeze....some other company. It's the same build design.....just no lights.... U.N.inspector

Another
They are good for widescreen notebooks since it's hard to find a cooling pad that will fit a 17".
