Free up those resources... (Help)

Anyone considered creating a program for the purpose of ending useless processes when gaming, free up some resources. Got to the point of making .dat files for stopping certain processes and another one for starting them back up again when your finished. Just one problem . When using a text file to edit it, which commands should be used to shut those prorams down. Oh and the commands used to start them back up again would be nice to know as well. I take it after someone puts up the commands I should just add the path for the program I want disabled right after those commands in the text file?

This isn't really my department... yet. Someone plz help

I have to admit that I've stopped shutting things down just to game. Other than my antivirus adding a bit of time to level loads, I've found that my sysyem doesn't benefit at all from going through the hassle.

So all of that extra crap running in the backround isn't taking up any CPU load space? Even if it were only a few FPS gain it would justify the idea. One-click on program and one click off program. It's a nice idea if there's any FPS to be had.

I use SmartClose to close multiple apps. But not for any additional FPS--not for gaming in other words....

I used to close things, but I don't anymore because I noticed no difference. To me, a couple FPS is NOT worth any effort at all. But that's me.

I don't bother shutting down anything either, though it depends what you are running I spose. I have a little over 50 processes when doing nothing, most are under 5mb of memory and not using the cpu any noticable amount...

Exactly. Most processes aren't sitting there chugging on the CPU all the time. As I said, sometimes I'll shut off the real-time virus scanning so it won't have to handle every damn thing the game opens, but everything else I have running is more or less inert. Having 2 gigs of ram helps too.
