Asus New Release Thread - G1p, G2p, V1Jp and more!
...no specs though...
http://www.engadget.com/2006/01/08/w...tops-going-on/ **** EDIT **** I'll make this thread a sticky since it got more discussions in here than those other Duo Asus threads. Let's keep all the discussion around the Asus Dual Core in this thread. All other will be closed. Thanks to C9Tech and G2P07 for providing the input and feed back on it. -SPK **** EDIT *** Some specs provided by c9tech -Djembe Quote:

I can't read it but at the buttom of the A6Ja page it also says High Def, meaning there is a High Def TV tuner in it. + 200$ my guess
So if this laptop costs $2800 for the A6j, then the A6ja would be $3000. this is hypothetically speaking. but who knows how much these things are gonna cost Thanks, MysticGolem |

Any Idea when the new V6j and W2j will be available? Are all of them comming out in March? Why so late when Sony, Acer, etc. are releasing theirs in January/February already?

Good things come to those who wait?
No idea on exact ETA's yet. The first one out of the Ensemble line [whichever one that will be], will be in March. Others will follow... |

Hmmm, I wonder what the benchmarks on the 7400 look like. It seems like a lower end card, so I am guessing it will be a little slower than the 6600go. If it is faster though, that would be sweet
![]() EDIT: omg, that Lamborghini laptop looks sleek as hell Last edited by pyro_dragun; 01-10-2006 at 11:10 PM. |

Man....March is so far away.... I can't wait so long... I think I just go with the Acer 8200 then... not quite as cool looking as the V6 or W2 line, but at least as much power. Maybe a Sony if they have a good FE model...but they usually put at least one sucky component in their notebooks...I really want that new V6 or W2.... ...I don't get it...I thought they had the models already on the CES? Do they only have one person who screws them together? |

The W5F is here (europe) in stores. I really like the black chassis (well, I've never seen W5 in black before) but other than that it looks just like all the W5's before. But you know, it's like those little cars that look like your mothers car, but then you notice that it has two exhaust pipes and you know it will go very very fast...

If you're using the notebook for gaming, stick with the current lineup.
The dual cores are more for extreme multitasking, etc. It's not like the current lineup is obsolete once the new Duo's hit. I just got my W5Ae and couldn't be happier. |

Better battery life Cooler running Better performance Better graphics Lighter weight These don't sound like the things that I would like to pass up just to buy now.

Like me for example... I have a couple business trips coming up real fast and they will be going on until March. Therefore, I got a notebook now... To explain your comments a little further... Better battery life - Only when clocked the same; More like higher performance at multitasking at the same battery life. Cooler running - A slight decrease in temps is to be expected. Better performance - Mostly during multitasking, not so much in gaming. Better graphics - ? Only if the models offer the X1600, other than that you're still back to roughly the same cards. Let's hope I'm wrong. Lighter weight - Not true. ASUS will be using the same models, which = same chasis. For some people the benefits are not as great as the demand. If you need a notebook now, you will buy it. For the others, the answer is obvious. |

yup C9tech is basicaly rite about everything he just said except:
Graphics: Yes the X1600 does get ~4300 3DMarks05 compared to the X700 which gets ~2400 3dMarks05. But I could definately be wrong too. But none of us know about he X1300 and X1400. My guess: X1300 would get above ~2000 3dMarks05 X1400 would get ~3000 3dMarks05 But i could be totaly wrong, we are not sure right now ![]() And from what we've seen about the Nvidia stuff, they look pretty pathetic. The Go 7200, 7300, 7400, 7600 are all just OK... but we all know the 7800 and 7800GTX pwns , same for the 6800 and 6800U .But if the X1300 and X1400 do get lower 3dmarks05 to what i have said, then it would make ATI and Nvidia on basicaly the same page. But Cudos to ATI for having better techonology in cooling and increasing performance IE the X1600 for 15.4" notebooks. But handsdown the NVidia are superior in portable gaming with their 6800, 6800U, 7800, 7800GTX, whereby ATI can only compete with thier X1800 which we have no info of. Thanks, MysticGolem |
