Question Np 8550 Bios

Does anyone have available for download, or any information regarding an updated BIOS for a Sager NP 8550?

Currently have SystemSoft 440BX/4402X chipset BIOS version 1.00.03 dated 22OCT97.

Upgraded from WIN98SE to WINXP-H. Unit runs "ok", but often delays (1-2), or suspends HD, and takes a second or two to respond to keyboard/touchpad inputs. If anyone thinks there is an alternative solution besides seeking a BIOS update, please let me know. Would really like to extend the legs on this computer...

I'm not sure BIOS is your (only) "problem". Is that a 450mhz chip you have? Some delays would be expected in a much slower chip with a new OS like XP. Be sure to turn off suspend\hibernate in the Power Management. Reduce the number of background\Sys Tray apps to improve performance. Turn off all the flashy XP stuff like 3D-style windows boxes, fading, etc. If you have Windows Update Q811493 installed, it is known to sometimes slow performance also. Generally, tune your system to only run what you need when you need it. Virus Scan is another necessary evil that can slow responses. Good luck. Mebbe some others will jump in with suggestions. If I can find the Clevo BIOS FTP link at home tonight I'll let you know.
