If it was me, and I was the mfg... I'd replace it with whatever model the customer wanted for FREE, regardless if it was in , or "out" of warranty. In this case the unit was only five months old so this should not be a problem. I've give the customer a "new" laptop, with whatever options he/she wanted, plus addtional stuff like a docking station, carry case, etc to keep the customer "happy". To retain the customer. Quote:

The battery was most likley overcharged.
