There is an easier way to remove the dreaded "My Bluetooth Places" from the desktop. One that doesn't require TweakUI:

1. Right-click on desktop and then go to Properties>Desktop>Customize Desktop>Clean Desktop Now.
2. Make sure that the box "My Bluetooth Places" is checked and press next.
3. Voila! You should see a folder now with the "My Bluetooth Places" inside of it. Just delete the folder.

You should update your instructions to use this over TweakUI.

This is an awesome thread. I could install BT drivers with no problem and they work flawless. I can connect my Palm T3 and E2 to the internet and send/recieve email.

Thanks a lot

Well, Dell's BT drivers just bricked my 1710. No safemode, no bios. Nothing.

Ouch.

I was skeptical about installing the WIDCOMM drivers over the default Toshiba ones. However, after doing so, my system has been running a lot smoother. I shaved off over 10 seconds on boot up from the new BT drivers alone. I am loving it!

first of all I would like to thank you for this thread!
I bought an full inspiron 6400 (I think in america is E1505) with 350BTM and Windows xphome SP2. Everything was working smoothly. I had to upgraded to windows XP Pro last week and there is where my problem started. the toshiba stack stopped working and the bluetooth enumerator by MS appeared in the game. I managed to get rid of them (not by renaming (didn´t work) but by removing the inf and pnf associated files from the windows dir). I tried to install the latest toshiba stack 4.0.22 (I think) from dell. the firmware upgraded worked but then it tried to install the BT driver and keep saying "press FN+F2 to start bt device" which was of course on. after 1000 restaurations i found the widcomm drivers here and I downloaded as a last attemp before killing one of the dell agents. I have to say that it worked perfectly with my phone (v3) but I didn´t try the headset yet.
to sum up, if you are having problems installing the toshiba BT stack, use the widcomm provided here!
thanks
ps: i did not try previous versions of the stack (like the 3..posted here). maybe it works too but I do not want to waste more time on this as the widcomm is fine...

hi all ....well i'm kinda new to this bluetooth stuff ....but i've come across the Dell new bluetooth model ...
Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module (Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR)

i've downloaded the driver of the new dell bluetooth module ...and found out that ...is using widcomm drivers ....and i try to install it ...but have lisence issue and also always prompt me to to activate my bluetooth module ..while i've already on it ....

so currently ...i'm still with Dell 350 Bluetooth Module ..is there anyway to make the new Dell widcomm driver for 355 module to work with my Dell 350 module ????

the link to the driver :

Just to clarify, the 355 Dell download uses Widcomm software, but it still uses the Broadcom driver. That's what this thread is about, right? Using an actual Widcomm driver, and not just Widcomm software?

I'm confused. I thought the TM350 used a CSR chip and a Toshiba stack, while the new TM350 uses a Broadcom chip and a Widcomm stack. Since the 355 module dumps the 350's problematic Toshiba stack in favor of Widcomm, the TM355 seems to be a big step forward as far as this thread is concerned (assuming the 355 is available from Dell spare parts). Or am I missing something?
