I just so happened to have an XPS M1210 with a BT 350 module. I swapped it out with the 355 that I had in my e1705 and so far I haven't had any problems . Although, I've only used it for the past 24 hours... I'll let you folks know if I encounter any problems with the 350 module.

I can assure you that you will not have ANY problems. I personally think it works better than USB dongle from diNovo set ( using USB dongle, mouse would lag in games if I'm entering a heavy CPU/GPU required areas. For example, I would kill about 30+ soldiers in one building sitting in same spot, in game STALKER @ max settings). With BT module, there is no such lag.

Well... after using the BT 350 for the past few days I have some interesting results. I no longer have the problem where the BT goes out every 10 mins or so and comes back 20-30 seconds later. And I no longer have the problem where the mouse buttons fail to work. HOWEVER, I did notice that ocassionally when I change monitor resolutions or enable my external monitor, I get BT outages but it usually comes back moments later. ALSO, sometimes when I bootup or when I come back from a Standby state my BT 350 isn't recognized by the system. My only recourse is to either reboot or put the system in hibernate mode and then power up the computer.

*sigh*

A few annoyances but in general I would say that it is working better than the BT 355 module. I'm probably going to call Dell to see if they can help resolve the issue and I will let them know that the BT 350 module works better than the 355... I'll try and update my progress on this thread...

Did you disable the UAC to begin with? UAC crap does interfere with display/mouse alot. Make sure to disable it, then trying to reinstall the setpoint.

No I don't think i've tried disabling the UAC. Where exactly can I find this option?

There are many ways to get to this.

I do:

Start/input msconfig in search, press enter/go to Tools tab/click on Disable UAC, then click Launch/Reboot

OK, I turned off UAC. I think I found the reason why my BT doesn't initialize sometimes when I bootup or come from a standby/hibernate mode. I have a Hauppauge USB TV tuner and I noticed that the driver wasn't working when I looked in the device manager. So I unplugged the device and rebooted the computer and sure enough BT was recognized and I had immidiate usage of my keyboard and mouse. I'm going to have to contact Hauppauge tomorrow to see why my driver is not starting up properly...

OK, I just got off the phone with the Dell techie and he reinstalled the driver for the BT 350 card. Everything seems to be working the way I want . Now it's just a matter of using it for the next week to see if it behaves...

okay. I was finally able to change my 355+ module with the 350 that I gave my friend. I had a hard time installing it and the only way I could install it was to use the 355+ drivers for some reason. It finally installled and is recognized as the 355 and my mouse seems to work okay in games so far, except for one issue. If my computer goes into screensaver or shuts down the display (I don't use sleep mode) then the mouse doesn't work right away when it comes back to desktop. It takes about 30 seconds before it will move again. LOL, and strangely enough, it just did it again as I was typing this and tried to move the cursor away from what I was typing. Only took 10 seconds that time, but that's still a PITA.

UPDATE: It's happening more and more frequently. I was just playing Oblivion and it crapped out right in the game.

Try to uninstall everything - BT, and setpoint. Don't forget to disable UAC. I've been playing Obilivion, and STALKER flawlessly.

I have my LCD shut down in 20 minutes of inactivity(and never sleep/shut down when not active), but mouse works very well when I start using it again.

I'm using setpoint 4.0 beta.

Don't forget to uninstall widcom crap after drivers are installed, then install setpoint. To be honest, when I fresh installed on my M90, I don't even think I installed Dell BT module drivers. I think the Vista had drivers already, so I don't even recall uninstalling widcomm crap.

yea, did all that about seven times. Every time that I tried to install the 350 drivers it would give me an error that it couldn't find compatible hardware and then stop the installation. If I used the 355 drivers it installed and recognized it as the 350. Never saw any WIDDCOM stuff in the Program list for some reason.
Last night, dicking around, trying to get it to work, I uninstalled and reinstalled. Got the same error message, left it as is (didn't try to uninstall anything) and restarted. When it was done restarting I ran the setup again and this time it went through without errors. So far it's been working okay (I find Oblivion kinda buggy though - crashes every now and then, completely freezing my system, and ocassionally the 3D graphics go black. Menu still works and if I ALT-TAB to desktop for a bit and go back then the graphics go back). I'm using SetPoint 4.00.126 and I believe they aren't beta.

EDIT: Forgot to add. Sometimes when I start up Oblivion I can hear the Windows notices that it is uninstally and reinstalling hardware. When I get to the Oblivion menu in the game it does it a couple more times and then the mouse works again. I don't know if it did it the last time I played since it was late last night.

I'm not sure if this should help or not.

Uninstall BT module, turn the BT module OFF after uninstallation. Dont forget to get rid of all BT devices before this though. Don't reboot yet, uninstall the setpoint too here.

Reboot, run the 350 module driver, it should tell you to turn the module with pop up sayng "turn on BT by Fn + F2 key", let it install. Install setpoint.

Reboot, install the devices by connecting them.

If this doesn't help you, I don't know what to tell you lol.

BTW, do you HAVE TO install the BT driver by Dell? I recall(I think) Vista pretty much installed the driver by itself when I fresh installed. Oh, and I'm still using setpoint bets since it's been working well, and I'm not going to try to fix something that ain't broke lol.

well, mine's working, but I still see slowdown in Oblivion with the mouse, and still does that funky thing when I ALT-TAB where it disables/enables the mouse. I was gonna say F*** it and buy a Razor Deathadder mouse, but I can't find anyone around Toronto to sell them, and the only place in Canada to order is the west coast for $80 plus delivery. The states won't ship it to Canada.

Playing games like Obilivion and alt - tabbing isn't exactly good thing to do. Your just setting your system up for a failiure if you do that.

As far as slowdowns in Oblivion, does that happen w/ USB dongle too?

yes, even more so. Getting my ass kicked a lot more with the USB dongle more than the internal bluetooth, but I still notice slowdown during hectic parts. The bluetooth mouse is good for convenience, but I'm using this more for gaming as you can probably tell with my clock speeds. I want to get that new Hitachi 200GB 7200RPM hard drive to help with speed and space too. But for now, I just want a good working mouse, hense trying to find the Razor.
