E 7110 - cold solder problem on video card causes notebook to freeze
I have had my e 7110 for about two years... recently it went out on me.
when i press power the lights come on and the fan and it makes a beep or and beep, beep sound... just not the screen... i've tryed to listen for the HD but havent heard that either. ..THEN! I have teken it apart several times.. and when i put it back together sometimes it works. only to die an hour or so later... when it dies the screen fades to white and everything freezes. I sent it to Fujitsu and they just told me i needed a new motherboard. I have changed the ram out and it still does the same thing. I have seen on the yahoo groups that a few other people are having this same problem. One of the guys on there told me it was a "cold solder problem." Seems the problem lies with the soldering job Fujitsu did on the video chip, when it gets hot the solder melts, and the card shifts so ever slightly... any advise??? or do you have a motherboard you could see me... THanks! Last edited by jmetcalf27; 02-18-2006 at 04:11 PM. |
