linux
which is the best compatible linux distribution with amilo 3438?
i already tried mandrake 10 and suse and both have hardware incompatibilities. first doesnt recognises the hard disk and the second the sound card. i need one where my hardware will be fully compatible!!!! thnx |

Basically, if one Linux distro works, all of them should. It's just a matter of how good you are with getting your hands into the inner workings of programs.
What you seem to be interested in is kernel modules (the equivalent of drivers as we know them). Of course, modules are much more than that, but it's all that you need now. My recommendation would be to download one of the latest Live-CD's, like Knoppix and try to see whether it supports your hardware. If it does, issue the command lspci and you will see what modules you need to load in order to make your notebook work as you want. |
