Talking Finally got my FX7. Yay!

Super excited about finally getting it. Waited a long damn time, but it's finally here. I haven't seen any in purple, but it's my favorite color and was blown away to see that Hypersonic offered it in purple. Anyways, here's some pix!

Very nice pics. The color shifting purple is one of my favorites. Looks very nice.

Can't wait to see your review and experience with it once you power it on!

=( Gotta send it in for repairs. Hopefully just something minor. Basically, it's the audio dj & digital clock. the front display doesn't work & it doesn't play cds. sending it in tomorrow and hopefully will get it back soon.

review will come when i get it back.

but so far (not counting customer service) it's been awesome. =)

I had this problem with my Aviator EX6 notebook, and they ended up having to replace the entire motherboard to get the audio DJ and clock to function. This reminds me that I never posted my pics of this machine with the Fire Mist Pearl paint...

Who knows. My FX7's screen went belly up 4 days after I got it, but it's probably a motherboard thing too.. The backlight turns on, there's just nothing displayed. External monitor works fine.

It's gotta go back to get fixed. Even after I get it back, I'm not sure i'll be able to trust it.

I ordered a Dell XPS M170 just to be safe.

Maybe. We'll see. I haven't made my decision yet. I love having an FX60 in a notebook, but that doesn't mean a hill of beans if the machine isn't completely reliable. For $4200, I should be GETTING a machine that's completely reliable. But if you read all the Clevo D900K-based threads (like the Aurora 7700, FX7, Sager equivalent, etc), these machines just don't seem to be ready for prime time. Seems like there's some issues to be ironed out. I hope they can do so.

Regardless, I can't be without a computer as my job requires I have one at all times - even over a weekend. I'm a network engineer, and a lot of our network upgrades get implemented after business hours or over the weekend. If something goes wrong, I have to VPN in and fix stuff.

For less money, Dell is giving me 24x7 on site support (which includes nights and weekends) through our citigroup employee discount/purchase plan. This knockoff Clevo clone has already failed me in a matter of days, and has failed several others in these and other forums. I don't know of any company who offers same-day support of these systems regardless of which boutique outfit you go with.

I really like the FX60 AND having a fast RAID0 stripe in a notebook. But unfortunately no other notebook company can match the 24x7 onsite service Dell can offer when it's purchased via a corporate offering. I was kinda silly to think I wouldn't have problems with this Clevo unit based on everything else I've read in here. At this point I have to have a reliable system. Maybe the dell WON'T be more reliable - but at least if it fails, i'm looking at hours, not days, of turnaround time.

If it means I need to have 2 notebooks, so be it. It's not like that computing power will go to waste.

I have a 13 yr old son who's addicted to World of Warcraft.

Network engineer means you just sit around like a security guard and do nothing Dude, I was a "software" engineer but really neither you are I earned the title "engineer".

Don't give up on your FX 7. Mine has been running with no problems (except for the first day, all fixed with a new videocard).

No offense... but unless you're in charge of designing and implementing a world-wide network that encompasses every major continent and involves thousands of Optical Circuits, Frame Relay clouds, Routers, Switches and the like to span hundreds of thousands of workstations, tens of thousands of servers and 55 trading floors, then you should really speak for yourself on what the term "Engineer" means.

I earn my living, and have done so at the same corporation for almost 13 years. Be careful whose job you try to belittle. Your resume may just pass my desk someday, and you might just need a favor. Keep that in mind the next time you decide to call the wrong person a glorified security guard, "Beavis".

LOL. I doubt my resume will pass your desk dude. At least I can laugh at my former job title. You take yourself a little to seriously. My software controlled major parts of paper mills for a major fortune 500 company (PLC interfaces with huge equipment). My automation software replaced many live workers. I still don't think I was really an engineer as the guys who did the real design or electrical-level building and design really deserved that title (I have a business degree with an MIS option but when to school with many electrical, chemical, and other types of engineers). I could have gone your route or programming after graduation. My security comment was in jest. As I said you need a thicker skin. Don't worry, you job will be outsourced anyways You might consider learning to speak Pakistani or Indian I am lucky to not have to worry about that crap anymore and I am in a much better financial position for it. Best of luck to you.
