Toshiaki is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
trouble burning data dvds (sager 3880 using toshiba cd/dvdw sdr6572m)

hello, i own a sager np3880. my cd/dvd writer (toshiba cd/dvdw sdr6572m) worked normally since i received my system in september 2005. the last time i burned a data dvd was in december. i use winxp pro sp2 with latest updates and i can't seem to find the problem. i have recently updated my burning software, nero (6.3.1.2.5) to nero 6 (6.6.1.4). i tried burning a data dvd using tdk dvd+r 8x single layers as the medium but at the end of the burning process, i receive an error saying "burn process unsuccessful." the tdk's are the same dvds i used to burn several data dvds in january successfully. this problem happens only with burning dvds; cds have no problems. i uninstalled nero 6 (6.6.1.4) and reformatted my computer and reinstalled nero 6 (6.3.1.2.5) from the nero cd i received with my sager. i have tried lowering the dvd write speed but i receive the same error. i have attempted burning dvds using cdburnerxp pro but i am still at square one. i have tried burning data dvds again after updating my drive firmware from TU04 to TU05, still no luck. i have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling my aspi drivers. i tried the 4.71 version aspi drivers from the adaptec website and forceaspi 4.60 drivers from a link somewhere in notebookforums.com; i forgot where i found the link. both are unsuccessful. nevertheless i am very sure it is a software problem. i tried using my external cd/dvd burner using the old and new version of nero 6 and cdburnerxp pro and with the new aspi drivers; still no luck. i have reformatted my computer several times during this entire journey and i am running into brick walls.

the files that i am trying to burn onto the data dvds are various bootleg anime episodes.

here is my latest attempt log from nero 6.

addon: i have made my attempts at burning data dvds with a light workload on my computer. nothing more than itunes and my word processor was running along with nero 6.

anyway, i appreciate the help denn_76. i would be very grateful if any of the more educated notebookforums citizens can assist me with my dvd trouble; pctorque representatives i also would be very very grateful if you can give a word of advice. i'm only a high school junior and my knowledge in computers only goes so far. please help. thank you very much.

Toshiaki's post fortune: when mighty computer cannot burn a simple disc, it is most likely the clever trojan horse that hides in the discs' soul.

Using a Toshiba SDR6572M, and am having a hard time burning Memorex DVD+R. It burns the Lightscribe version of these just fine, and I can't figure that out.
