VS.

Acer Aspire 5672WLMi-XPH w/ Core Duo T2300, 1GB, 100GB, DVD+/-RW, 15.4in WXGA, Radeon X1400, WinXP Home $1499 CDN

Which one is the better buy? Consider the following:
-Photoshop CS2
-MIDI Programs (reason, various vst programs) for LIVE shows (needs to be NO latency)
-audio production/rendering
-dvd movies
-office applications
-internet/messaging etc.

if you would prefer to make recommendations on a different machine, please do so!

Thanks guys!

Regards,
Nick

wow. thats awsome. a little more than i wanted to spend, but it looks solid. what is the build like?

I notice the rca audio in, big plus! can i output that way as well? I will be hooking up a Midi Controller Keyboard to the laptop for live preformances. The audio will then travel out the computer and into my gigantic bass rig. if I have to use the headphone out jack, i will have to find some way to drop the signal to a line level, as to not distort the audio and possibly damage my amp/speakers.

Fujitsu build quality, from what I've gathered, (aside from that melted one in the General section recently) is pretty good. Screens are just beautiful, as those of Toshiba and even Sony.

Can't get better for that money all things considered.

as far as i see thought this is the problem.

i'm gaining an excellent screen, and dedcated video card, but im loosing 512 MB Ram, 20GB hard drive.

all that for an extra 200 bucks.

20GB is nothing.

With a DVD burner it doesn't matter anyway.

RAM is also much more easy to upgrade than a screen or that video card which one of the others doesn't even have. That's what you're paying 200 more for, additionaly to the superb build quality and generally awesome comp.

my only concern would be the stage lights reflecting on the screen.

You'll get glare on matte screens too, just a ifferent sort... ainter, covering more of the screen area. Glare on gloss is concentrated. That's the only difference.

The only way to avoid glare is to get no screen at all... and good luck trying to operate a computer like that! Heh.

Tip: As far as I can tell, you're honestly not going to save a great deal of money by building it yourself. When I looked at it, I could save only about $50.00 USD (newegg parts compared with ISTNC).
