Do you have access to your recovery partition?? Have you run a search for folders and files called 'quickplay'?

Maybe you could find something useful.

I tried to use Paragon's Partition Manager to copy the QuiclPlay partition, but somehow HP got the partitions crosslinked, so partition manager softwares will display an error and wont let us copy the QuickPlay partition.

This happens with QPv1, I don't know if it will be possible to use Paragon's Partition Magic to copy QPv2, could you try?

I didn't see anything in the partition using Partition Magic. If I blow away the harddrive and install a copy of XP Pro I have here, does anyone know IF I'll be able to get ym standard features back, or am I shit out of luck?

Look for a 1024MB primary partition. My QP1.3 is shown as a 204MB Type 88 primary partition. The QP2.0 should be around 1024MB in size.

You should be able to get them all back.

Why don't you try to chat with a HP technician before formating your HDD? Yesterday I did so and the technician did help me.

Maybe you could ask him how to do a backup of QuickPlay v2 and that way you could send me your QP backup.

I won't be able to tinker with it anymore, my dvd-rom makes some god awful sounds whenever spinning a disc and I guess I'll be taking this laptop back in the morning

I don't want this thread to die! Because I really want QPv2.0

A HP technician told me that QPv2.0 wont be available for download and that HP may not even sell it. So, if you want QPv2.0 you need to buy a laptop with it, we wont be able to updgrade from QPv1 to QPv2

I want it! Please! Anyone! Help!

Well, almost true. It can play DVD, video clips, or music files without booting up Windows, but the laptop still needs to be TURNED ON.

But since it doesn't boot to Windows it takes less time to get ready to play DVDs or Music and QuickPlay is supposed to give us more battery time.

It does take less time to start QuickPlay than Windows, but I have reservation on the battery life claim. It has been suggested QuickPlay runs the machine at full power and therefore run for a shorter time than Windows for the same function.
