I'm assuming that the QP partition still showing in disk management.... That you somehow un-installed , or corrupted the "Windows" part of QP?.... That using the QPW folders contents restored the QP in Windows?

Here is my story about Pavilion, in the first place I decided to get rid of W XP Home edition came with notebook, with this in mind I rebooted with a W XP Pro CD . ( this is also another story with SATA enabling disabling). I delted all partitions before I start to reboot to install new OS, but ı had completely forgotton to save SWSetup !! so all drivers had gone but also QPV2 ! I thought I am able to find all them anytime from HP drivers site but QP was not there as you all know So I contacted with Technical support to get back QP but they said that preinstalled applications not acceptable to get back to customers. I asked why HP doesn t provide any CD, if my notebook HDD is crashed just in case they should have been provided CD s as recovery matter, they were silent , I wrote a letter as customer complaint it si not ethically correct in my opinion. so at last I decided to get back sw from my store where I bought my notebook, and I copied it form bran new Pavillion to my external HDD with me. They were good people, they couldn t be ..so QPV2 is not one of the seven wonder of the world as a program but remote control uses it when I playback DVD..QP is under SWSetup such as a driver, just double click on application icon it is simple to install...

I recently just purchased an Hp dv1650us with qp2 preinstall and win xp home, come to mine and everyone else prevail nothing came with restore cds/dvds. So I got on the horn and called hp. I told them I want to install my own copy of XP Pro and I am just wondering how I am able to reinstall quick play. They said this is not supported and I will not be able to do this. So next i said well i would like to reinstall XP home that was preinstalled and such with quick play. They said that is fine and supported and I will have to send it in. So I said well why cant i do it and then said sarcasticly that "O, I dont have the restore disks" they said those are extra money when you purchase the computer. Then I said so when i pay you a grand for a computer I am not entitled to a copy of the disk of software that I paid for in that grand i sent you. So he then transfered me to a supervisor and I stated the same thing over. He then said after putting me on hold for 5 min that I will be receiving overnight at no additional cost a set of restore disk.

Disk 1 is XP Home Reinstall disk
Disk 2 is Drivers and Applications
Disk 3 is QuickPlay 2 Reinstall disk

So After complain and proving that I am right that i purchased rights to the software and disks. So they sent them out and I recieved them today, I will let you all know how my reisntall of XP Pro and QuickPlay go the first chance i get to try it.

I did it before, just don t forget the first step: when system asks if you want to install 3rd party scsi or raid driver in , then you have to answer by pressing F6, and you have to have a USB Floopy driver and SATA AHCI controller floopy ready with you from HP driver support web site . They are most critical issues..Let me know if you need more help..

As far as I know , you don t need any extra work for QP . QP is just a driver or application in PC ..First you have to keep your notebook SWSetup folder copy in a CD or external HDD.. Because your Quick Play is in this folder, Folder name is QPW under SWSetup folder.
After you finish the reinstall your new W XP Pro and (you probably made more than one partition) I recommend to keep all SWSetup Folder's copy in none - OS system Partition (secondary partition) as a backup.
You go under SWSetup, go QPW folder and double click on qp applicaton (you can see there). That s easy to setup..

Yes, you can have one partition. I did it. Second partition is good for backup, but I use an external HDD it has 200 GB for backup purpose at home. and also a auto-backup programm usually comes with this type of HDD , my backup program is "BounceBack express" which came with my external USB HDD Seagate is very usefull.
in that case you have to delete all partitions during reboot Pc from CD when it is asked to you; first delete partitions and make unpartitioned space and continue to installation. you can see these steps during reboot. it is easy..
And after all you already have a driver CD from HP. You got insurance..

Just went through 20 pages, and im glad I didnt reformat my HDD as soon as I got my laptop. The instructions so far seem to concern only two partitions:

Partition 1: Number of GBs - 1024MB (Formatted)
Partition 2: 1024MB (Unformatted)

Just wondering if QP2 would also work with the following setup, say for a 100GB Hard Disk:

Partition 1: 60GB (Formatted)
Partition 2: 100GB - 60GB - 1024MB (Formatted)
Partition 3: 1024MB (Unformatted)

Could you re-phrase your question?

100 gig drive..... Formated as:?
Partition 1 =60GB -OS, APPS?
Partition 2 =

Anyhow, haven't been following this thread lately but last time I checked the QP 2.0 installer is only "happy" when you DELETE ALL PARTITIONS after the primary , leaving UNFORMATED, FREE space so the installer can create the needed QP partition.....

PS: Once you install QP you can add the deleted partiton back...

Is this a "generic" XP install... or are you using a XP install disc sourced (bought) thru HP?

Two thoughts:

Power management settings... Something not being set right (I.E Machine set as Desktop /Server machine) and /or you're "missing" something, a service pack. I remember downloading, installing something to do with system settings.... Sets all the power management to HP specs I think.

OK let me say in order;

t2300 the model of your cpu ; I think it means Dual Core (mine is t1300 it is single core)

1.66GHz Clock speed of CPU

981MHz Bus speed of RAM or Clock speed of RAM.. (as far as I know)

1GB RAM capacity of your RAM in your system
