Seriously mate, stop posting so many questions. Your XPS is not broken! All computers are mortal, remember that.

Eh, I dont blame you for being inquisitive on a $2000+ machine, I would be too if I didnt know a lot about comps . Maybe it would be best to consolidate all your questions into one and thread (how about this one)? First off, have you reformated and re-installed windows XP, getting rid of all the Dell bloatware (providing it was still on it when you bought it)? Have you run a benchmarking program to see where your laptop stands (3DMark05 from www.futuremark.com is a good one to start with)? Have you updated your drivers? Try searching some of the many guides on the forums to help your with these processes .

thx alot k6 , ive got my 7800 gtx running on 440/1250, getting 7500 on 3dmark05, and now have 30 processes running (was 60 before) after a clean install and creating a new partition, temperature varies......... if i have'nt had my notebook running all day my idle temp for the gtx is 45*c, running spyware doctor aswell.

ive noticed that quake 4 is running a hell of alot better, 1600x1200 everything on high, vsync on, but aa and af off.............

do u think these setting shoud be expected for my setup? any other suggestion, ...... love your cooling dock btw.

thanks alot man,

Everything seems right on for your system, I dont see anything out of the ordinary. So you have tried running 1920x1200 and your system chugs along? I've never played Quake 4, but it's the Doom 3 engine, and Doom 3 was pretty easy to run, maybe they beefed it up for Quake 4. What FPS are you getting at 1920x1200?
