I have some info to tell anyone who orders a "Go-L" www.go-l.com a few things about this company. Do yourself a favor and don't order from them!

They are full of crap, they don't buy from Clevo because Clevo didn't even know who they were up until two weeks ago. They buy from either Sager or Prostar. They claimed to have Dual Channel DDR on their 17" model, which is not possible seeing as it uses the SIS chipset. They then removed it after receiving complaints from a customer on these forums! (www.talknotebooks.com).

They claim that their 17" Hollywood supports the Extreme Edition processor. Of course everyone who knows SIS also knows that this chipset doesn't support the EE processor. Apparently the good folks over at Voodoo have been trying to get the EE to work on their m750 (same platform) and as of yet claim it's unstable/doesn't work. Both Sager and Voodoo claim that the EE works on the m600/np8890 and any notebook with the Intel i865, and i875. Too bad for those of you who bought the Go-L expecting something different.

In November I asked Intel if Go-L has even received any EE processors, and as a matter of fact the answer was no. The first companies to receive this were Alienware, Dell, Voodoo, and Falcon. Beyond that there was no one until a month later. Go-L claimed to have their notebooks running on this processor before they even received any! The jury is still out as to whether they sold one!

I have a list of technically impossible/unfeasable things from their site that were given to me from an unnamed source, and I've taken screens shots of all of it. I don't claim to know alot, but what I do know is Go-L doesn't know their ass from their spec sheets, they have no partnerships as they claim, and the people at Maximum PC made a mistake putting them on the cover.

If you bought a Go-L expecting something different, I recommend you return it, and realize that you are buying a re-branded Sager with no additional real value other than some stupid color rock on the lid.

I have been researching notebooks for months, and I have narrowed down my search to a Voodoo envy M855 (Athlon 64) and a Sager NP4080. I recommend that you buy Sager from www.powernotebooks.com or www.pctorque.com, or a Voodoo notebook from www.voodoopc.com. I researched Alienware as well and they make a nice notebook with a graphics module that also supports the EE.

Those are my thoughts, not "Miguel Liebermanns", I'm sure he'll be shocked when he reads this and he'll make quick changes to his bull**** website again.

Search the forums. There was a long thread detailing MEDDUDE's purchase of a Go-L. He got a perfectly ordinary 4780, to the surprise of no one.

Hi John! I too have been researching laptops for over a year, and already own one, and am seeking another.

Voodoo is not listed, and I admit that the first time I heard of them was from you in this thread.

However, I just spent considerable time on their web site, and the same unit price comparison I had in the other thread peaked at $4600, while Voodoo offers a 15.1" inch ONLY, and it's $5,145 USD for all other same features. At least the other laptops compared are 16", as listed in the other thread. That means Voodoo is seriously ripping people off. Just thought you should know. I didn't even pick a tatoo, I left it blank and that was the price. Their prices are way too high.

It is a shame most people in this forum seem to know little about what their are talking. So, a short reply:

In fact our 17" Hollywood is NOT a re-branded Sager. First of all Sager is a re-branded Clevo itself. Sager does not make laptops. Clevo does. Sager, Prostar, Fosa... they all buy from the same source and do nothing to their machines but sell them, typically even without OS. We are very different. Though the casing is made by Clevo and so is the motherboard, many of the internal peripherals and components are exclusively customized and configured for us. Also, the version of XP we ship is something that no one else has and that alone, puts our machines in a different category.

The Pentium 4 3.20 Extreme Edition is in fact compatible on our laptops systems. We don't care if they are not compatible with Sagers or Prostars. Not our problem, not the same machines. We have shipped many and ship them every day. Sorry to disappoint all of you how seem to envy us so much. Furthermore, the upcoming 3.40 Extreme edition is ALSO compatible with our systems. Again, sorry for more bad news for you folks. In the same way for example, Bluetooth is NOT available in the 17" Sager because of and USB Channel conflict with the TV Tuner. Again, on our systems, that was re-designed, it is fully compatible and we ship Bluetooth enabled units every day. Again, not the same machines, again, sorry to disappoint you.

In addition, the upcoming new Hollywood Gold is compatible with the new Prescott CPU within the current 478 Pin packaging, AND, it is an all-new computer, INCLUDING the external casing... no more "SAGERing" for all you folks ready to point finger at everything.

And finally the best of news so you can all shut-up once and for good: on February 8th, we are opening our first retail store in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. There you can all go in, try the machines, benchmark them, see for yourselves how they perform including the new ones with the Extreme Edition CPUs and the new Prescotts, all our Desktops, Servers, monitors and more. Hmm..finally a chance to verify whether all the doubt about Liebermann Inc is correct or if the company really offers all it promises. I just wish I could have a chance to go to CA sometime soon. Or perhaps Liebermann will open a retail store in NYC? I mean after all it's the two major metropolitan areas.

Anyways, i'd believe it is not rational to have a tech support from some company come to this forum and advertise their product. That is just not the professional attitude u see from major players. To me it sounds like Go I is a small start up and is in need of some better management.

i wouldnt classify that as advertising...was merely defending acusations made against the company. i seriously doubt he would've taken the time if not for certain member's comments. it's not like they need the advertising, hell they were on the cover of Maximum friggin PC...

A lot of what Liebermann promises is based on this premise: their machines are modified Clevos, not off-the-shelf ones. Liebermann does not seem large enough to manufacturer their own boards and chassis (though I may be wrong), so the easy way to find out the validity of their products is to contact Clevo directly and verify whether they are customizing their barebones for this company. On the news item that announces the New Yorker, "Performance improvements include a completely redesigned motherboard supporting EL DDR333 DRAM up to 2GB based on Intel's 855GME+Intel82801DBM(ICH4-M) design supporting 400MHz FSB and an ultra-high performance Pentium-M Processor with a full 1MB of L2 Cache ." The validity of claims like this can be verified by contacting Clevo. Of course, one can't overlook the intentional use of clever language to mislead customers: I doubt Liebermann redesign their own Pentium-M processor. Furthermore, the Intel 855GME chipset cannot be used with ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro. the GME includes integrated graphics in the south bridge.

I'm in Reno but I have 3-day weekends since I have no classes on Fridays. Maybe I'll drive down sometime and check out the store. I'm still undecided on whether or not Go-L is a scam, I'm leaning towards them merely being overly ambitious and incompetent. At least MEDDUDE had nothing but complements for the XP tweaks they did. That at least seems legitimate. But what is not legitimate is the fact that MEDDUDE did not get the parts he paid for.

I guess we'll see what comes on February 8th. There will either be a store in Beverly Hills or not. Certainly there are some forum members living close enough to go and verify there is a store. They could even go in and check out the wares.

Then we'd have real hard data.

This happened before when MEDDUDE bought a machine from Go-L. Many felt he would get an empty box if even that. He did actually get a machine but it turned out to be pretty much a standard SAGER 4780 with some interesting tweaks on the OS. It apparently did not display the performance claimed. I don't know what MEDDUDE decided to do eventually. Perhaps he can comment.

But one things for sure, we really don't need a lot of vile, violent language in these forums and we don't need folks yelling at each other like a bunch of little kids.

Go-L has made some pretty fantastic claims, none of which have been substantiated. They have used some very questionable tactics in their website.

As I said, the proof of the pudding will come February 8th. At least if someone can go there and check it out. If you can, please take a digital camera to record the visit.

Meanwhile, if Go-L support wants to substantiate some of their claims, such as having shipped many units and shipping units every day, provide the invoices with the names and addresses of the buyers. If you want to substantiate your purchase of Intell EEs, provide the invoices. Same with your custom engineered motherboards, provide the design and production invoices.

Or we can wait until February 8.

As for being on the cover of Maximum PC, well, that's not all that hard to do. The right connections and a load of cash can accomplish a lot. For that matter, its relatively common knowledge that reviews are pretty much for sale. Which is one reason SAGER doesn't get reviewed all that much.

Anyway, we'll see when the time comes. Meanwhile, chill out. If someone wants to order a Go-L computer, let them. How does it hurt you? If they want to buy some really cheap land in Florida or here in Hawaii, is it your problem if that land turns out to be mosquito infected gator lairs or still steaming lava? Personally, I consider all the folks that fall for scams a major entertainment. I am constantly amazed at what people will believe. Heck, Go-L, if it is a scam, is pretty light weight, its actually fairly believable. Some are so impossible to believe you have a hard time figuring out how someone could be that stupid and still manage to feed themselves or not receive a fatal injury getting dressed.

For all interested here are our official specs on the upcoming New yorker Laptop. By the way, these are the official CLEVO specs before you keep giving in to wrong claims like "the Intel 855GME chipset cannot be used with ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro. the GME includes integrated graphics in the south bridge"...

SO the actual spec is "Main Chipset Intel 855PM+ICH4-M": I guess the 855GME chipset claim on the news release is a misprint. Well, that happens. As to "Special Feature(s) World's first "Centrino" notebook with 128MB DDR Video and ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro", well, there's the Voodoo M:460. I really think Liebermann Inc has great substance, but all these grandiose and over-ambitious claims are doing more harm than good. Isn't it better to just claim things as they are?
