pctorque how are they?

Hi,

New to the forums, glad to be here.

I just ordered a 4780 from pctorque, and of course opted for the 2nd day air shipping I see that they have good reseller ratings.

Any one care to comment on how good/bad/poor/average the customer service is from pctorque?

Looking forward to the 4780

Thanks!

My 4780's due to arrive in the next couple days, but so far I'd have to say they kick ass. Best prices anywhere, they know their hardware, and they're great about answering questions.

The fact that they run these forums says a lot about their confidence in what they sell, too, which was pretty much what made me decide I'd buy from them.

PC Tourqe has an excellent reputation at www.resellerratings.com. They also own this forum, and they seem pretty cool about posting links to others. Obviously they aren't scared of a little competition.

I ordered late at night on the 9th (a Friday), and went with UPS Ground. Since I'm in California, they've got a strange thing they do where Sager ships the laptop to PC Torque, then PC Torque ships it to California. I believe doing it that way means they don't need to charge sales tax to people in California (where Sager's based).

I got my first UPS tracking number on the 16th, the following Friday. That's longer than I've heard of with other people, but a week's not much to complain about. It then went 3-day Air to PC Torque, and started the Florida to California leg of the trip on the 20th. The ETA from UPS is the 27th, but I've noticed a lot of the time stuff shows up a day early, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

At this point, I wish I'd have gone with a faster shipping method. The waiting is driving me friggin' nuts.

I dont know if PCTorque are the cheapest. There is another reseller out there thats pretty good to me and they were about 50 bucks cheaper than PCTorque. Does this mean their customer service is as good as PCTorque...I don't know. but they surely dont run their own forums like this one. Although I ordered somewhere else, it seems that PCTorque is the place to buy. For a second, I almost wanted to switch my order to PCTorque because of there availabilty to their customers through these forums. But i needed my $50 bucks as money is very tight right now.

Uh, TotalChoice, I hate to point this out, but isn't it a bit late to be inquiring about whether or not PCT is any good or not? I mean, you already did your order, if they aren't any good, you are already wankered aren't you?

Fortunately, though I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with PCT, they do appear to be good people, actually more interested in doing what they do than in simply turning over money.

If more people realized that's one of the secrets to success or at least to having fun and satisfaction while you fail, this would be a lot better world.

Pill time for MARQUISDARQUIS.

I asked how the customer service was, I do not need to ask about the product as Sager is a household name in my home.

Not to sure what wankered is. I did however use a major credit card, so I am really not to worried about actually getting the product. What I am looking for is a reseller that will offer myself and my company good customer service.

MARQUISDARQUIS, thanks for the input however.

I found them very efficient TotalChoice, even though I am on the other side of the planet (although some of my friends think I am out of this world so go figure ).

That came out of the famous "Help my 8890 is built of CDs" thread. Whilst we were waiting for the release of the 8890 some of us built a mock-up using CD (an 8890 is exactly 3 cds wide, 2 cds deep, 4 cds thick and using double cd cases so they stand up at the back, 2 cds high with the lid open. Talk about freak'n awesome. It made some people wonder what they had ordered .

Let me put it this way, my lab as a 'special deal' with Dell, where we agree to buy from them, and they agree to gouge us. Since I've gone around the red tape and ordered from PCT, others here are quite impressed with what I bought for $2200 (a 4780).

I don't expect to see too many new Dell laptops in the near future. Three of us are chomping at the bit for the 8790's.
