XPS M1710 review
http://www.notebookreview.com/defaul...Dell+XPS+M1710
Nice review, lots of pics. Nothing about the Audigy sound, however! Here's another one: http://reviews-zdnet.com.com/Dell_XP...-31789682.html and a third: http://www.mobilityguru.com/2006/04/18/dell_xps_m1710/ and again: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1950072,00.asp Last edited by m94mni; 04-18-2006 at 09:40 AM. |

lol I love the "action shots" of the XPS teetering on the edge of a skyscaper against the NYC skyline. I bet Dell wasn't too happy about those, I can just see the wind grabbing ahold of the display panel and knocking it off the edge.

much better looking than the older xps, but still....just an overpriced 9400 to me.
ill take a 9400 with a 750 anyday of the week, and twice on sundays over this!

Looks like it pretty much is an E1705 and it has an docking port. I wonder if we can modify our E1705s to add this port. There's a cutout for the docking port on our laptops. Somebody make it happen. |

yea i figure its only a matter of time before the 7900gtx ends up in the 9400. users just need time with the card. so again (like with the xps 170/9300) we see pretty much the same machine, for loads less. keyboard is different color, but im sure thats changable with each model. i think the xps logo on the touchpad is a good idea, but personally dont like it.

If you dont count coupons....its nearly the same price.(dell canada anyway) 9400 with T2400 x1400 2gig 80gig hd 9 cell battery Wuxga = 2579$ Xps 1710 with same config except video card 7900 gs =2849$ Considering the difference in video cards...I dont think the 9400 is "loads less"

well not everyone is a canadian. this thing is really expensive compared to the 9300+7800gtx option we had before. with all the price jacking dell has been doing recently, im pretty sure my next computer wont be a dell.
now, where can i buy a 7900gtx for $260?

And once there are coupons for the XPS I dont see a reason to not go for the xps if you want to stick a 7900 gtx in a 9400. The main reason being...the waranty.
