Questions on the MPB

Recently I have been very interested in getting a mac power book. It seems to be the best of both worlds with its ability to run both OSX and XP. The only three things that are holding me back are rosetta, 64bit processing and battery life.

Rosetta: Is there any information on when Office and Photoshop will become universal for the mac book pro? These are the two programs that I use the most on my current noteboook (Alienware Sentia), so it's important for them to be able to run at full speed.

64bit: I know many people are wating for this. Is there any indication as to when the mac book pro will be 64 bit?

Battery Life: I kinda got screwed with my Sentia notebook when it comes to battery life. Advertized battery times were between 3 - 4 hours. However, 8 months later, I get as little as 15 min of battery life. Does anyone have a realistic battery life for the mac book pro?

Thanks for the info,
BOOSTD

Well, here is my test I did last night with my Macbookpro. I set the brightness to the very least before it goes black (still very readable), I turned off BT (i was playing pinochle on yahoo games so I didnt need my mouse) and I had "better battery life" selected on the battery options. I had Safari open and Itunes (listening to music during the game). I started at 100% battery and after 1 game I had used 20% of the battery and had been playing and listening for 40 minutes. So, if you do the math, 40 minutes x 5 (20 x 5 = 100) then you would get 200 minutes or 3hours and 33 minutes. That is very satisfying for me. Hope that helps!

There's no official dates for either Office or the Adobe apps, however, Office runs pretty well under Rosetta so it's not too bad. Adobe Apps won't be universal till next year sometime with the release of CS3.

64 bit should be introduced around August.

Why did you get screwed with your sentia? Batteries lose capacity as they get older. It will happen with a PowerBook just as it happens with your sentia. My battery has been used for 21 months and it can only charge to 63 percent of it's original capacity now.

yeh, but in 8 months? that sucks. i'd say u should try and at least get it replaced under warranty (usually 1 year for batteries).

Depends on how much he's used it I guess, but, yeah, 8 months does sound too short for it to have depleted that much.

Ya, Im going to look into a replacement battery for my sentia. Hopefully they'll replace it for free.

Also, is there any news on wether Apple fixed the heat problems with the mac book pro? Was this just a problem with the older versions?

Thanks
