I'm not sure how the exchange works or even if this will give me one. I'll be hearing from our corp rep tomorrow.

I read so much about whether Battlefield 2 works on this rig? Has anyone tried it?

just a quick question, my laptop was bought on a pre-configed corporate account. I only got the T2300E processor with it, is there a way to upgrade it to a 2500 or is this virtually non-upgradeable.

Hi, I've been reading this thread and I'm seriously considering buying a Dell D620 and I have a couple of questions:
1-How much does a 6 cell battery last assuming you have a Quadro? 2-How can I make sure I'll get a samsung screen? Thanks Edited to add:Is the screen problem only with the WXGA+ screen or also the WXGA one? Last edited by superwizard; 07-16-2006 at 05:24 PM. |

My D620 is 1+ week old.
1. I have not tried the battery, but less than 3 hr. 2. You cant make sure what screen you get. No matter what you do, I think Dell has gone down in LCD screen quality! You see all kind of problems not just D620, but M1210 and others too. |

Got mine 4 days ago (finally). God I'm pleased. Was also lucky enough to get Samsung as the screen and I have no complaints what-so-ever about the screen. What does bother me.. is a small problem with wifi. I find a wifi network, connect.. windows/ laptop shows that I'm connected but for some reason I cant browse any webpages or use any other functions that are internet related (so basically.. no data is transmitted). Any ideas what might cause this or what am I doing wrong?

glad yours is working out for you, the only beef I have with this laptop is. The screen quality does not match my older model d610:S, even with the samsung screen I'm not that satisfied. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong with the settings? but it just looks grainy overall and pictures look dull. thats basically it. heres a picture of my screen, anyone care to tell me there optimal settings for this screen lmk. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/untitled.jpg |

For all of you who are thinking of getting the D620.......DON'T!!!!! Overall the laptop is good and does what it suppose to but the screen is just not worth it. If you always have to move your head around just to get a good angle on the top portion of the screen is not worth keeping the laptop. Right now I'm trynig to exchange my D620 for an M1210. I'm a IT Professional and we have old laptops, like 6 years old Latitude C600, where the screen quality is much better and more clearer and sharper than the D620. Even those big a** Inspirion laptops back in the day, I5000, the screen is better. Have to say that Dell is going down hill on the screen on laptops but must say their 2407WFP monitor kicks a**. Guess should not get the first laptop that comes out in widescreen since they are trying to work out the bugs. Well, currently I'm going to be talking to our Del corp rep to get my D620 exchange for a M1210.

If I'm not mistaken it worse on the WXGA than the WXGA+. If you still want to get the D620 go with the WXGA+ and run the program mentioned in this thread to see that you get the Samsung screen.
