The Dell Latitude D620 now comes with the 256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M TurboCache option again. I am returning my system with the Intel GMA 950. The only negative is that I get 2 DIMMS with 533 mhz RAM instead of 677 mhz. Oh well, I'll live.

I've seen a couple of reports in regards to a "washed out" appearance of the D620 display. Is this accurate w/ your 620 or maybe just some bad displays getting through?

Have you tried any other games other than Half life on it? Have you checked what games will actually run on the Windows Game Advisor?

I just tried NFS most wanted demo. I had to play at 800x600 and medium settings. I didn't install any patches. It seemed to run well with good frame rates at those settings though, I may have been able to raise some quality settings. I'll try doom 3 next.

There is much controversy since gaming is a question on this machine. NVidia supports it as a business card and makes no mention of games. Do you know if it supports T and L?I had considered Sims 2, Godfather, NHL, and Tiger Woods. If they don't play, I won't sweat it out. I see you got the fingerprint configuration. Do you actually use it? I have a Smart Card but it would be a thorn in my side to pull it out of my wallet. ![]() |

Since my last laptop was stolen, I use all the security options possible. I use the fingerprint scanner as a pre-boot password and then to log on to windows I have it set to require a fingerprint and a password.

Hey, I'm a new poster here and actually made the account so I could ask you a few questions about your D620.
I just purchased one from dell and is in the boxing stages. I opt'd for a very similar configuration as you did except for the 7200rpm drive (speed), 2Ghz Duo, and I think thats all I noticed was the difference. I also am going to upgrade to 2GB Ram from newegg (sweet deal on 2GB for $145 or so). I know you said you were gonna get some more games in this weekend just wondering what your thoughts are on the following: Have you found any drivers that will help the Quadro with gaming performance, or modded ones? Do you think games like Tiger Woods, Civ 4, Age of Empires 3, will be able to run on this? I'm not planning to do heavy games, but Civ 4 or AoE3 would be great if it ran on this. I know such things as 2GB ram, 7200RPM drive will definately help out with performance of these things. Battlefield 2 thoughts would help me too ![]() On a side note, I'm very excited to get the laptop asap so I can play around with it, great battery life, wifi, light weight, and some gaming potential. |

Well, I placed my order today. We have an Enterprise account here and this is a replacement for my aging C640.
I maxed it out (T2600, 100GB 7200RPM, 2GB RAM) w/ the exception of RAM. I'll add another 2GB DIM once the prices drop over at Crucial. While XP won't recognize the full 4GB it is usefull for running things like VMware. I usually run w/ dual batteries since I usually don't need an optical drive while traveling and the extra run time is always a plus. |

2GB a ram will help with gaming, especially BF2. The 7200RPM drive will speed up map load times, but doesn't have much effect in-game. I would like to have gotten a 7200RPM drive too, but my budget was in the way I'll try out some of these other games soon. I forgot to get Civ4, I'll try to pick it up tomorrow.
