It may sound rash but I think I would end up sending the whole machine back if the screen was bad simply because I waited so long for a 620 and then even longer for the dedicated graphics. But maybe I am a glutton for sitting on hold...

Have any of you D620 owners tried connecting the notebook to a digital projector? I use my D600 with a projector all the time and keep reading horror stories about D620's and D820's with issues when using a projector.

Things like either the projector not working at all or it forcing the laptop to switch to weird screen resolutions.

ok so i called tech support and wow lemme just first say that SB support is wayyyy better than Home. i had the nicest young woman help me who actually seemed like she wanted to help as opposed to one of those off-shore indian reps.

so anyway, i'm getting a screen replacement shipped overnight, but she said that since it was under warranty replacements there was no way of knowing the manufacturer and that the part # i had (JC269) doesn't match up with the replacement part #s.

anyway, she said it definitely wouldn't be the same AUO screen that i already have so hopefully it's the samsung and not the LG Philips...

If you request a replacement screen and the tech guy comes to replace it, what happens if you like the screen you have better than the replacement? Can you just say no thanks and ship the replacement screen back to Dell?

I had no problems running my Powerpoint slide show today. The Nvidia Wizard to run multiple monitors worked like a charm.

Dell Small Business has the best customer service around. I was impressed that I received emails from individuals who updated me on my order status and return. It was nice. I am very happy with Dell Small Business. I am even happier that I got an excellent screen.

Ronin,

Havy you tried other games? I have played Mafia, Tiger Woods and NHL without a problem. I may consider pushing the envelope on more 'advanced games'. Would you mind summarizing which games worked and did not work?

I've only tried HL2, Doom 3, and Civ 4. Doom 3 didn't run to great on higher settings, only mid to low settings. HL2 ran good at high settings and Civ 4 runs excellent on most settings. I dont really have time to install other games right now and test them out.

dell is fast. i got the screen this morning at 10am. got done installing it.. took me about an hour but i was doing everything very carefully. could probly do it again in half an hr.

anyway, onto the good stuff. so i was pretty happy when i saw the samsung label on the screen. put everything back together, ran powerstrip, and sure enough it was the SEC4457 screen. kinda disappointed cuz it didn't really get rid of all the grainy "sparkle" but i gotta say that it's significantly better than the old AUO screen. slightly less light leakage from the bottom too. the contrast and viewing angles also look better, but that could just be a placebo effect. anyway, i'm pretty satisfied with this samsung screen so i guess this D620 is a keeper...

edit: btw the part# was YJ832 - "SVC;LCD;14.1;WXGA+;VESA;D620"
