I'm also in the market for a new Sager 5760, and will probably go to DiscountLaptops now too. Mostly because of the competetive warranty pricing ($100 for two year extension, vs. the $360 from other resellers). Originally that's why I liked PCT, but hey what can you do, right?

Discount laptops uses the same comany as we did for their branded warranties. As such they had similar if not the same pricing as well as the same support. All in all a trustworthy dealer and you should be well looked after

You will still contact us and speak to the same old crew . We have simply phased out sales. We are still in great relations with Sager to try to get any issed work out under your MFG warranty and are supporting our products in full as ever.

What is the thing you are switching your focus to (you threw out a couple acronyms) and how will they make you money? (I'm very curious now, as the term 'phase out sales' as a long term business strategy isn't clicking with me.) -Allen |

The site you see before you dedicated to notebook support, reviews, and all around information SR - Strafe Right (http://www.straferight.com) Strafe Right is our competitive gameing group whether it be Counter Strike, Battle Field, or even World of Warcraft we use this side of our company to keep in contact with the gaming comminity as well as participate. Now thats all fine and dandy, but you did ask where the money comes from. The banners adds as well as affiliates that are on our site are currently what is supporting the forums in their current state as well as a few dedicated gaming servers and such. However these banners(as you will note there are few in the rotation) are in place to generate an accurate count of page veiws on our site as well as unique page views. Soon enough we will be useing the info gathered with these to put more tageted advertising on our site, whether it be Dell adds in the dell section or yet another banner that says "Plays best on an Alienware". Never the less as time goes on the more traffic we will have which will directly relate to what we have at hand to help expand our corner of the net. Sorry that whole post sounded kinda corny and i am sure i butchered my grammer and spelling.... but its 4:44am and i dont have spell check installed on my home computer ![]()

Luke, Why are you phasing out the sales? I figured PCT was doing fairly well...

Our decision to no longer sell laptops had nothing to do with the sate of things in PCT. We are simply moving in a new direction, our heart has always been with the community and growing it. PCT was until recently the only way we funded everything that is NBF/sR. However our new avenue of bringing in money to support the community has change by allowing the community to support itself. While we still have a love for the fastest and the greatest systems out there, we would rather be reviewing more of them then selling em
. (And shush about the 5950 review, as you can see we have been busy .) We will be trying to bring in more then just Sager systems in the future to review so you can have some more of those unbiast reviews you guys nag us to do lol.

Luke,
This may account for at least part of the problem I had when contacting PCT regarding past support issues through e-mail, voice mail, and that I eventually posted on here. So as not to rehash the entire thing, I will simply link the thread I started. http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=151694 I guess I am a little confused that if you are infact no longer addressing sales calls, why infact did PCT support refer me to the Sales phone number to have this issue with Warrantec addressed. From my perspective, it would logically seem as though they were linking me to a dead end. Is that in fact the proper channel that should be followed? Again, I guess this transformation may infact partly explain what appears to be a lack of communication and the animosity I have towards PCT and their failure to respond. I feel you personally have gone out of your way to try and address or simply defuse any issues I have had in the past, and they have always managed to find their way to you, but I will say that outside of what you personally have done, I could not speak kindly for anyone else I have dealt with at PCT. |
