Vid Card Problem? Please look at pic

I've had this sager notebook for nearly three years now.
Two days ago, my screen has been plagued with this problem.
It was fine the night before, but the next morning.... this.
The video is screwed up from the get go... when booting up and once the OS is loaded.
I've removed all the covers (including the heatsink), vid card "looks" fine, and there is no dust anywhere.

It's the ATI 9600 pro 128mb. Anyone know what this is? Is my vid card done?

thanks!

This third image is the boot up.

Is there a remedy? I assume not.

Are these vid cards replaceable?

Any additional reponses would be much appreciated. I'm kinda freaking out about this.

What's the problem? Don't worry, you are THE ONE, you just need to become what you are. You will wear black shades indoors and long black trenchcoats outside in mid-summer while standing on tarred rooftops. Only then will you understand everything, and defeat the machine. Be still and and have faith.

Chupa! If you can, Remove your heatsink for your processor and ID a transistor on your mobo for me? its right near the power jack next to two green 100 ohm resistors... the reference number on the mobo is D24 or p24 ( i cant tell on mine, because it burnt the fcuk up) I can send you a picture of exactly what I mean if you are willing to ID the part for me!

Hehe... had that exact same problem. It occured after the card went to 119 degrees celsius, yep thats a lot, but it burned off . The problem was the GPU cooler, it sometimes didnt start, and I had to force it in order to get some cooling.
Send it back if you have warranty, otherwise buy it from someone

yup that happen to me on my aswell the video card is bad there is nothing u can do to fix it, the only thing that worked a little was that when i booted up in safe mode the lines would disappear but it would drag very much, u can use that mode until u get ur new video card

I had this same thing happen with geforce go 7900 on my replacment board and video card.

I tried and removing the thermal tape and use artic silver 5 instead to remedy the problem. No luck. I guess Ill have to send it back in. I just paid 1k for new board and video because my old board burned up. Im going to ask for refund on the repair and send the whole thing back. Just gonna have to eat the loss and buy an HP notebook.

I believe the gpu is on the motherboard and you'll have to get a new motherboard with the video card. I'm pretty sure the gpu cannot be swapped out.

My NP9880 with 6800 ultra is doing the same thing. I had another issue with my Laptop before, pc wouldn't start up due to bad vid card. Sent it back to Sager (on the last week of the warranty), they looked at it, sent it back and said they replaced the vid card.
Then, a couple weeks later when I got my machine back I reinstalled XP Pro SP2, with the 8.4.2.2 drivers from Sager, and my screen went blank. Restarted in Last Known Good, made sure the vid card drivers were uninstalled, reinstalled them, and others, and screen went blank again. Then it gotten worse, when starting Windows I started seeing the lines at system startup (before windows would load), the lines went away once Windows loaded, which made me believe the video memory was bad (came to the conclusion after reading the above). And it got worse and worse, started seeing the lines even in VGA mode when Windows loaded.
So then I had a look at the card to see if it was a new one, and found they did NOT replace the card, but did some work on it (saw some soldering) and found that the memory modules had some scratches on them.
Nice. Now my warranty has expired, and I still have a bad card. They said they replaced it, but they didn't. Not happy !!!!

What model is this? Being its a 9600 its more then likely a complete motherboard swap since the card is intergrated. The upside is if its like the 56xx series you will probably get the 9700 upgrade...still, its expensive unless you can find someone that did the upgrade and kept their old board thats willing to part with it..
