Question Toshiba A100-159..... Help Wanted!!!!!

Hai all,

I'm new to this forum and new to the world of laptops. I'm planning on buying a laptop, but I want some advice of those who are a bit more experienced in this world
My eye fell upon this laptop:
Toshiba a100-159

it's a dual core t2500 at 2.0 ghz
has 1024 ddr2
ati x1600 with 256 mb
100 gb at 5400 rpm
Toshiba TruBrite® WXGA TFT scherm 15,4 inch

But there are some things that worry me, on the site it states that the internal video mode is 1200 by 800 and with a maximum of 65.536 colors. Are those colors enough if you want to play games?

Furthermore I can not find anything about the response time of the screen, does anybody have experience with these toshiba screens?

I will use this laptop mostly for gaming and doing homework, and I can buy this for 1500 euro. So is this a good choice, or are there better notebooks out there for the same price?

Another laptop wich I had in mind was the asus a6ja-q007
wich is almost the same, except for the processor wich runs at 1.66 ghz, but it has more colors to be displayed , something lik +- 7.2 mil. Furthermore it is about 200 euro's cheaper.

please give this student from the Netherlands some advice

The spec sheets for both of my tecras (one is an old Pentium 3) say they'll do 16 M colors at the native resolution of LCD and I'm under the impression that that is the standard nowadays.

I remember something from an earlier post linking to a Toshiba europe spec sheet that had the same thing written on it and it turned out to be a misprint. I'd bet that the color depth will be 16M colors on that.

I think either one of those would be a great laptop to have and both should hande most games quite nicely. Might not hande the latest FPS type games at all the highest settings, but they should definately be playable from what I have read.

Thnx, that is what I thougt, cuase I just discovered that there where numerous laptops on the dutchsite wich have 65k colours and on the international site of Toshiba the same laptops would have 16m colours, guess it is just a misprint!!
Thnx for your advice, and the difference in processor speed of both laptops would that make a huge difference?? (1.66 - 2.0 ghz)

for gaming yes... the faster the processor the better, i would recomend you get something faster than the 1.6ghz for your machine...

I agree with Fidget. Even if you don't need it now for gaming & stuff like that, if you decide to keep the laptop a few years, later you'll be glad you went with a bigger processor or you may regret not having done it.
