7900GS for E1705/9400 - $325 Dell Part#UF804

I saw that info in one of the threads, has anyone order one and upgraded their 7800go yet? I'm only getting a 2200 score on 3dmark06 without overclocking my 7800go and that is just pathetic, really want a 7900gs.

Anyone order it? upgrade it? how is it? get better battery life?

yeah that is a little low there 2200?

I am getting 2485 non clocked and 3439 oc'd@1280x1024 in 06 with the same card. It sounds like you have something going on.

Check Anti-Aliasing / AF Usually under the Advanced Tab on Display usually either 2 ways tog et it 1) Under NView Options or 2) Under (Right click) Properties--> Dispaly/Appearance --> Advanced and Config from there.

Have you done a reformat? All the crap that Dell has installed on your system will greatly affect the performance of the system.

How difficult is it to replace the graphics card on the E1705? I've never done any modding as far as laptops go.

Has anyone done benchmarks that compare the 7800 go, 7900 gs, and 7900 gtx? I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the upgrade cost or not at the moment.

Thanks folkz.

Rough approximate scores are like this without overclocking,

3dmark06

7800go - 2300
7900gs - 4000
7900gtx - 6000+

Some people were able to overclock the 7800go heavily up to the point of almost a 7900gs vanilla, don't know if you wanna take that into consideration hehehe

My slightly overclocked 7800go now runs a 3200 score.
