If I hadn't, I wouldn't know that European pricing is set at 2,500 euros (US$3,200) for the Ferrari 5000. That won't necessarily translate directly to US pricing, but by reference the Ferrari 4000 lists for 1,949 euros (4006WLMi) in Italy. The TravelMate 8200 lists for 2,349 euros (8204WLMi). That puts the Ferrari 5000 at 28% more expensive than the Ferrari 4006WLMi, and only 6% more expensive than the TravelMate 8204WLMi. From reputable retailers in the USA, the 4006WLMi costs $1,850, while the 8204WLMi costs $1,965. 4006WLMi comparison: $1,850 + 28% = $2,370 8204WLMi comparison: $1,965 + 6% = $2,090 So - my guess is the Ferrari 5000 street pricing, once it ships in volume, will be around US$2,250. |

Don't forget that 8204 was over $2500 when it hit the street... I guess, Acer may start with similar price level in the US. They don't want Ferrari 5000 to compete with TM8204, I think... Or they can lower 8204 price again - especially that Core Duo processors are going to be cheaper now.

I dunno actually. The more I see of it, the more I really only like the outside of the screen, and dislike the rest. The red on the sides just looks tacky to me, and the red text under the webcam doubly so. The carbon fiber effect above the keyboard I could take or leave. The black webcam and front panel plate with the speaker vents don't look as nice as the silver versions on the 8204WLMi. The Ferrari logo inside the laptop on the palmrest is right where it will soon get worn and look ugly...
I *do* like the Ferrari logo and red stripe on the outside of the lid, as well as the darker carbon fiber effect, and the darker panel around the keyboard. That's basically all, though... Overall, I think the TravelMate 8204WLMi is more attractive, and I'm starting to hope Acer announces some Turion 64 X2 Mobile notebooks that aren't Ferrari branded at Computex. |

lol, I like the black front panel actually. Makes it look "reserved" if you know what I mean lol. Of course, I wouldn't mind having silver in its place like on the 8200's; however, it'd be REALLY bad if Acer put RED in its place instead. So, I guess black is ok for me hehe.
