cobra302 is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
just thought i would post up some numbers from my system.

hpdv8000z, amd turion 64 1.8gighz, 1.5gig ram, dual 80 gig hard drives 5400 rpm, windows xp mce, ati radeon xpress 200m.

i used 3dmark6 and got a score of 721. that was after going into the bios and adding an addtional 128mb of memory to the cards dedicated 128.

yesterday i used aquamark and got the following scores:

with 128mb alloted to the memory card(128 dedicated)
GFX 1,344
CPU 7,953
total 12,409

i then went back and added the addtional 128 shared memory for the card, my results went up in total score from 12,409 to 12,421. not very much. i'll have to re-run to get the exact numbers, but i did notice that the GFX score went up, but the CPU score went down. just thought i'd share.

Another satisfied customer here. I looked to compare the 7400 go. Turns out its plenty for what I need.

Have a request for those with new systems, gpu's that aren't listed.

POST your system spec's and some benchmarks.

In case anyone's interested below are the GPU specs of a HP Compaq nx6325 with the new Turion 64 X2 chip under the hood. (Above unit having the AMD Mobile Sempron 3400+.... http://laptopmag.com/Review/HP-Compaq-nx6325.htm

Unfortunately, the nx6325 delivered a below-average MobileMark 2005 score of 174. That trails the Intel Core Duo-powered business notebooks we’ve tested this year, which generally score in the low- to mid-200 range

The ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 graphics engine managed a score of 1,380 on 3DMark03, which is on a par with other business notebooks.

Just for reference the 15.4 Widesreen Acer 4062WLMi (LX.TAK05.301) the other day from SamsClub for $571.71 with the lowly Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 getting around 1080

Thanks for the Graphics Card information. I'm considering the purchase of the HP dv9035nr. I was concerned about the Go 7600 256mb graphics card. Again, Thanks!

anyone tired CS:S on a GMA950?

i'm planning on getting a notebook eventually (14 incher) and wanted to know if it would be enough to play CS:S at decent settings since thats pretty much what i always play and i have a desktop to play my other games.

if it can't, then what would. i'm guessing anything else but that, lol.

Did you read thru the posts on page 1?
GMA950 is just about the bottom of the bottom end cards.

For comparison, I also tested a Mac mini running Windows XP via Bootcamp. The Mac mini has a Core Duo T2300 and Intel GMA 950 graphics, so it provides an interesting comparison for those curious to see how the Core Duo T2250 stacks up with its 533 Mhz system bus (compared to the T2300's 667 Mhz bus) and also how the Nvidia 7200 graphics compare to integrated graphics.

GeForce Go 7200: 2738
Intel GMA 950: 1796

GeForce Go 7200: 1510
Intel GMA 950: (not tested)

Sandra Lite 2007 Processor Arithmetic
Core Duo T2250: 11796 (Dhrystone) 8619 (Whetstone)
Core Duo T2300: 11323 (Dhrystone) 8355 (Whetstone)

Sandra Lite 2007 Processor Multimedia
Core Duo T2250: 27057 (Integer) 36838 (Floating)
Core Duo T2300: 25951 (Integer) 35131 (Floating)

Sandra Lite 2007 Memory Bandwidth
Core Duo T2250: 3310 (Integer) 3312 (Floating)
Core Duo T2300: 3636 (Integer) 3635 (Floating)

Summary

The GeForce Go 7200 graphics provide a 52% increase in 3D game performance for $25--a pretty good value. Performance is on par with an ATI Radeon X600 pro.

For a real world test, I played World of Warcraft on both systems. While WoW was playable on the Mac mini, it required settings to be at their minimum, and frame rates still dropped below 20 fps during battles. On the dv2000t, WoW can be played with medium quality settings and never drop below 30fps. That's a big difference.

So while the GeForce Go 7200 is a TurboCache part, and is less powerful than the GeForce Go 7400, it's still a big step up from integrated graphics. Do yourself a favor--spend the $25 and get it.

As for the processor...in everyday tasks you'd have a hard time telling the difference between the Core Duo T2250 and the T2300. The T2250 offers 3-5% faster processor speed (thanks to its 1.73 Ghz clock speed compared to 1.67 Ghz on the T2300). However, given its faster bus speed, the T2300 offers 10% faster memory bandwidth. So it's pretty much a wash. All in all, the T2250 is an inexpensive CPU option that will deliver excellent performance.

A few final remarks: I got the large capacity battery and can play WoW for 3 hours+ at max screen brightness, and the fans never go above a whisper. The glossy finish is pretty--and collect fingerprints like crazy. The screen is decent--better than my old v2000z, but not as bright or with as wide a viewing angle as a Sony XBRITE. All in all, for the money (less than a grand) it's been a great purchase.

I hope that helps!

Cobra,

Just a heads up....

On most boards when you change your sig, the sig is changed as well. (which can really confuse the heck out of someone when you're talking about a fix, parts, etc on such and such a model.. (And you've changed your sig)

Thanks for the info, I've cut an pasted your sig into the BODY of the post, so it's part of the permanent record so to speak.

Great List

Thanks for the list.
It's very useful, and it let everyone who want to purchace a new laptop to know the quality of the GPU that will be included in his/her "new" laptop.
