I see your point though. I'll just buck up and order it and stop whining like a baby. c-net claims that the maximum exernal resolution is the same as the LCD, but the GeForce Go 7400 shows a maximum resolution of 2048x1536 at 85Hz. I did test out my monitors with VGA and DVI side-by-side at 1920x1200 and was able to find an exceptable balance, so I'm good to go. |

I've run 1210 at 1920x1200 ...
... ran an external 24" monitor at 1920x1200 with a xps 1210 the other night for a few hours of coding.
The 1210 was a friends and only had integrated graphics, but the 24" monitor looked absolutely fine. Wasn't choppy at all (for normal 'business' use, not gaming). Had I spent a few minutes with my face right next to the screen switching between my DVI PC and the VGA laptop I might have been able to tell the difference, but I wouldn't have guessed it was VGA had you just shown me the image. I agree that not including DVI was the only fumble on the 1210. The Apples have DVI out that will drive a 30" LCD, this 1210 would be an absolute dream if it had the same. |

Thank you for the your post mate. It gave me a bit of confidence.
I just ordered mine last night (off ebay) and paid the guy $50 extra for overnight shipping, so I'm expecting it on Tuesday. I'm pretty excited to ditch my desktop, I'm really excited to run dual core (current machine is a 64 4000+). Here are my specs: Core Duo @ 2GHz 1GB (I've ordered 2GB) A/V package GeForce Go 7400 wireless b/g w/ bluetooth CD/DVD RW Audigy (software edition) 3 yr. in-home I paid $1,800 for it, which isn't much better than what Dell can give it me for, but getting by Tuesday was well worth it. I'll post more when I get it. Cheers! |

Hello,
I'm a notebook newbie and need help. I've had my xps m1210 for a week now and I'm going nuts trying to load all my software. I'm running Windows XP. The system is slooooww. Also, whenever I play anything in itunes the audio is staticy and choppy. I had assumed that a brand new notebook should work *at least* as well as my 2 1/2 year old desktip (Dell Dimension 4600C). This notebook has the following specs: * Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2GHz, 667Mhz/4MB) * 80G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive * Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy * 2GB DDR2 667MHz 2 Dimm Do I have unrealistic expecations about what this little machine can handle? I want to run: * Windows Office Suite (including Access) * iTunes * ActiveSync for my Axim * Software for my Cannon Powershot camera * Software for HP Officejet 5610xi All-in-one * Quicken * Homesite So my questions are has anyone had the problem of not being able to play iTunes? Music sounded fine with the other MP3 players. Anyone else have same performance problems? Can anyone recommend resources for optimizing Windows XP? Thanks much! |

DELL XPS 1210 is the WORST Note Book Experience!!! Ever
To my badluck, while visiting Dubai in April 2007, I purchased a brand new packed DELL XPS 1210 at a high premium price! but in about a year's time, my NoteBook has absolutely stopped functioning.
The problems are: - Battery is completely dead (It does not charge and the computer has been running on AC power since last three months) - The Screen had developed two lines since 3 months of purchase of NoteBook - Now the Screen is totally blanked out (BLACK) and NoteBook was being only running on an external LCD. - However since two (2) weeks, even this has stopped working - And I have got blue screen with message “HARDWARE MEMORY ERROR”, contact manufacturer. I am unable to access my very valueable office and private data. This DELL NOTEBOOK has become completely OUT OF ORDER in about a year’s time. I only wonder, is this the quality of a world renowned machine? I had my note book inspected by the distributor Shahnawaz (Dell Distributor and Service Center in Pakistan) , who informed that the motherboard is faulty, screen is faulty and battery is dead!! I have purchased this expensive Notebook on 10th April 2007 and in approx one year the note book is finished, not useable? All my investment in the DELL brand has gone wasted? What should I do now, throw the expensive notebook in trash can and buy a new DELL Notebook? Can somebody comment or help me out? |
