I mean how to fix the dvd issue with the new driver? If I roll back, the problem will be solved, but I just want to enjoy the latest modded driver from nvidia.........

Oh I see, well, I hope someone can help you. I was planning to upgrade last night as well, I guess it was lucky that I put it off.

I thought the new driver came from Sony?

Heyo (:
I am customizing a AR170 and was just wondering between the two options for the LCD display, video graphics and casing, is it worth paying 200 more dollars to get the premium casing along with the extra features? Also would this computer be a good choice for a harcore/casual gamer who's majoring in Graphic Design? thank you. BTW amazing review (:

I just bought an AR150G for use largely as a graphic design machine; I chose it primarily because the screen is one of the best I've seen on any PC laptop, in terms of color consistency across the screen. While I'm still going to hook it up to an external monitor most of the time, I wanted something I could take to client meetings to show work, and this machine seems like it will fit the bill nicely. It's heavy and the battery life is atrocious, but it's probably the best-looking PC laptop I've ever seen (gotta impress the clients, you know), and it should work for what I need it to do (work and games).

One issue to consider for design is what sort of design you'll be using it for. I chose to forego the higher-res screen simply because most of my work is for the Web, and I need to see it at something approaching "real world" resolution. If you're doing print design, I'm sure the higher the resolution, the better. I personally would have preferred the glossy "premium casing," as the matte version attracts fingerprints also, but is somewhat harder to clean. And the video card upgrade is most likely worth it if you play games.

For $200, that's an excellent deal. However, for what it's worth, I got my AR150G (similar to the AR170, but non-configurable) for $1,698.99 after rebate from Amazon.com, so you could save some money over Sony's site if you can live with the default configuration.

Congrats, you'll like the machine. I was originally going to go with a 170 for the higher resolution screen, but as much as I like the sharpness, it really does end up making type too small for me.

I tried purpose specific wipes for the casing on mine, and they actually didn't do anywhere near as good of a job with the exterior fingerprints as a wet paper towel followed by a soft cloth to dry.

I downloaded Notebook Hardware Control, and using the CPU modulation I managed to squeeze another 30 minutes out of my battery. (2 hours vs. 1.5) Might be worth a try.

How is the light leakage on your screen? I agree the screen color/clarity wise is one of the best i've seen, but mine has a fair amount of leakage on a black screen.

Thats a beautiful laptop, and i was actually considering the AR190G but it was just waaaay out of my budget. I bought the Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV650 instead and im pretty happy with it. It was meant for a desktop replacement, so it fits the bill quite nicely.
