Unhappy bklax23 I am having a similar problem too

My mediadirect reinstall is working but I cannot access pictures. Nothing happens when I hit the pictures button. It plays dvd's fine and I can listen to music fine, but when I try and search the computer for music it freezes up after getting 1% into the search and sits there with a blanks screen with mediadirect in the upper left corner till I reboot it. It appears something is still not right with my re-install.

Read posts 81, 84, 89 and 90. Sounds like you're having the same problem.

Question

I read post 81,84,89, 90, performed the f8 delete hibernation data and it is still not letting me look for pictures and still is freezing up when I try and search for music. DVD's and playing music and videos is still working. Any other suggestions?

How did you reformat/repartition your hard drive? Did you use the XP CD partitioning utility or PartitionMagic? Which version of XP are you using? What Dell model do you have? Are you using MD or MD 2.0? Windows MCE or Dell Media Experience?

I reformated the main partition with the windowsxp Media edition cd and reinstalled windows. I did not mess with 40m partition and the 1500m partition. Mediadirect did not work. I ran the md repair utility and it started working but with the same problem I am having now, no pictures and locking up when searching for music files. I deleted the 1500M partition with partition magic and then ran the reinstallation MD2 disk and it created new hidden partition and installed it and added taskmanger during install. Loaded latest Nvidia drivers and sound card drivers. Again working as before, loads up but no pictures and locking up at music search. After reading here I hit F8 and ran the remove hibernation info and restarted MD. Still the same thing no pictures and locks up during music search. I am running 1710 XPS with XP media and trying to load MD2.0. My XP and media center is running perfectly, with all latest drivers installed.

Wink

Well I ran the repair utility again and f8 on the reboot to remove old data and now pictures are working again. Still hangs up when searching for music, but I can browse the folders and play the music, so I guess this is as good as it is going to get for now. Thanks for everyone's help

I have the Dell E1505, and I decided to dual boot with ubuntu. I'm using GRUB as my boot loader.

Right now I have the dell utilty partition at 47mb
followed by 47gb WinXP MCE NTFS and my linux partitions.

When the lapper is powered off, and I press the MD button, It boot right to windows.

I ran the short repaid to no avail. Help?

no, download the file, extract it with winzip. The file extracted will be a .iso

Now open Nero, choose burn from disk image.
