A8jm Review

Ok Ladies and Gents....I just received my brand-spanking-new A8JM. I have to do the usual un-install, clean up, and test everything. After I am finished I will post pic's and my impressions of this little beast. This is my first time posting, but I want to thank everyone for their input that helped me make this decision.

...to be continued.

tdawson1994

ok...here is what I have for now:

3dMark2005: 3827 @ 12x8
3dMark2006: 2272 @ 12x8

these are at the stock settings...as it seems that Nvidia has locked this card!!!

I can attest to the fact that it is some type of MXM...I just don't know what type???

If anyone can tell me how to add images, I will do so. I don't do HTML, so this is a new venture for me.

...more to come!

Upload the images: http://www.imageshack.us/

Put the images between [ IMG ] and [ /IMG ] tags (without the spaces inside. I did this to prevent auto-format.

Should also redo 3DMark05 at 1024x768 (default) to get a comparable score to most others, since most people only use the free version.

What are the default clock speeds for the 7600?

The default clock speed is 450 core and 400 mem. I don't see why it's locked, I managed to up the core to 510 with no problems and at 510/405 (haven't played much with mem), my 3dMark06 is 2548. Another A8Jm owner managed to get 2640 something with 519/425.

Update

lazybum131:

...I put those that way because I ran 3Dmark without connecting to an external monitor. I assume the free version either ignors 12x8 and assumes 10x7. Since its free...but if it doesn't, then the scores are realistic to the laptop.
(Darrick) is correct... GPU is 450, and mem is 400...also found out that they used DDR2 for this GPU...it may be why the 256 W3J scores are higher.

Darrick:

...how did you over clock??? I used coolbits and that other popular one ??? and it ignors my attempts to change the settings...gives me an error saying that it is not supported!!!

DDDa:

...Ok...you are talking to someone who has NO experience with HTML/Web editing AT ALL. So the link is for uploading my images??? Then how do I post them to my review section??? Do you have, or can you give me a guide???

Also...how do I tell what tyoe of MXM it has...and yes...based on the pics I've seen, it does have a MXM slot!!!

Hey, I used Coolbits too. Set it to Manual Overclock, and increase by 5 or 10 MHz at a time (Core). Then test it, run 3dMark06, then repeat.

As I said, didn't play much with Mem, but should be the same procedure until you find a stable setting.

Matty: I don't think the A8Jm is available in UK. The model that ships there is probably the A8Jc (with Go7300 instead).

tdawson: I haven't personally, and I've heard conflicting news about whether or not it's MXM (some say it's a modified version by ASUS, hence we can't replace it easily)... but here's a site I found showing the card: (translated)
http://translate.google.com/translat...en-US:official

Looks like it is a modified MXM ?
