Go 7900GS Benchmarks
There are now a whooping 3 benchmarks on futuremark.com for the Go 7900GS. None are SLI and they are all Dell’s, but still.
3dmark06 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=356020 3540 Im actually impressed, this is much higher then I expected to see. By my sig, you can see I got 4377 with an Aurora m7700 and a Go7800GTX, So the GS is only 837 weaker. But, my m7700 also has an AMD X2 desktop processor (vice his Intel Core Duo) and that alone would give me closer to 800 more points! I had my vid card nicely OC for that run, I cant tell if he did any OC’ing, it reads N/A on core/mem. Regardless, the Go 7900GS is going to rock in SLI! |

We have had a ton of success overclocking the 7900 GS in the Dell E1705. It blows away the 7800 GTX once overclocked.

Wow, that’s bragging rights, why wouldn’t they publish the results then… hmmmmm Edit: ok, this is really interesting to me as I have not heard of these crazy OC speeds on the go 7900GS yet. I just read the entire10 page thread and not one single person published their results futuremark.com... that is weird. I asked someone to please publish, I would really like to compare ![]()

The screenshots and data in the thread will have to do for now. There is a ton more in the original thread*. I was the guinea pig for overclocking the 7900 GS. Once you up the voltage, the thing is an animal and very stable. *That link can be found in the first post of the new thread. |

Man that is very impressive. Those gpu's are amazing when oc'd. Just wonder if that is stable or just a bonsai run with artifacts. Either way amazing scores none the less

dont know if you posted this but i found one
3dmark06 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=362887 4905 on a dell with a "low" 1.8Ghz Duo core. i cant believe you can OC these cards so high! almost double the core. the 7900GS is blowing away last gen 7800GTX in fact, the GS is blowing away the 7900GTX ?! 3dmark06 GTX http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=361608 4833

The 7900gs and 7900gtx core are the same. They disabled some pipelines and geometry, and downclocked to meet their low thermal power target of 20W. The 7900gs comes clocked at 350/500, while the gtx is clocked at 500/600. I don't think they use the same memory though, so you should be able to up the clock to 500 no problem. I think the lower spec memory on the gs will make it difficult to overclock it that drastically.
The biggest issue I would have is concern about adequate cooling. At the added voltage and clocks, the heat generated should be dramatically higher. I'll be adding AS5 right away if AW uses thermal pads with the m9700. Don't know if it voids the warranty or not...

have a dell 9400 with go7900gs,(se my rigg down below). wondering if i can BF2 with full AA and 1024 x 768 whitout OC. i dont want to flash my vbios (think its risky), or maybe it isnt. dell have locked the clock freq in the bios.
i also want to make a backup cd on my vbios, how do i do that, is it some ISO-file i find in my laptop, who i then burn with nero. ? i also have a 90 W supply, its that enough if you OC ? this Alienware with SLi you guys have, wwwwwooooooaaaaahhhh ! ( i thought my laptop was cruel) sorry for my english. Last edited by putkinen; 09-24-2006 at 11:46 AM. |

I've run BF2 on my m9700 with a single card, and it runs great at 1920 x 1200 on high settings with AA and AF off. Don't really need it at those resolutions.
I've overclocked my 7900gs's and listed it at futuremark.com. I wasn't able to push the main clock that high as I didn't overvolt the GPU slots like the Dell guys, but my memory speeds were higher than most of them report. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2207214 If you have a Dell with a 7900gs, you should go to the Dell section as they have a couple strings on overvolting and overclocking and how to do it with the Dell if you're interested. Different mobos, drivers, and bios. They list all the software they use to strip and alter the V bios. I used nibitor.
