Exclamation Gaming problem with new 9400 w/7900 GS

I've started having a problem within the last 2 days with my system. I loaded BF2 and patches when i first got the pc a week ago and it worked flawlessly. Super smooth on highest settings just perfect. But for the last couple days when i play BF2 whatever server i go onto the game is very very choppy FPS slowing down to 10 probly. But my ping is always at a solid 75 or below. I dont know if its the game that is causing this problem, or if it is a driver issue with my system. If i restart my PC and try to play BF2 again the choppiness goes away. But when i exit and try to play again later on in the day it goes back to being choppy. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm running on the stock dell drivers havent upgraded or OC'd but i would like to. Didnt reformat the PC when i first got it becasuse i did not recieve the OS and drivers cd. But i just used the template and recieved my OS cd's today from dell, so i can reformat whenever. Anybody have any ideas besides reformating HD ? I unloaded all the bloatware and the system runs very well, except for my gaming problem. Any help in this matter is GREATLY appreciated.

thanks

10FPS sounds like card problem.

No, not necessarily.

Checked for background processes? Have you installed a firewall or something recently? I did the stupid mistake of trying to play Age of Empires 3 on my laptop, without reaizing that Windows Firewall's message box was open in the background asking me if I wanted to unblock AOE or not. Was kinda slow.

That's all I can think of. Oh and, reformatting would definately help. If that doesnt, THEN your graphics card may (read: may) be the one with the issue.

Ok, here's some things I'd do if I were in your place...
first, call/email dell, tell them you want all the cd's for your system.
unistall as much bloat ware as you can
disable what ever you can in msconfig and services.msc
reinstall the driver (do a thurough job, use driverclenaer)
*note* I'm using the latest stock dell drivers. I was using the XG 91.xx for quite a while, switched to the 84.56 (or what ever the last one was) and got superior 3dmark scores, how ever one game (swat4) was running like shit. The stock dell drivers have been serving me well (example, used to run swat4 at 1440x900 w/ minimum specs, and at times fps would get <30, now i'm at 1920x1200, medium settings with some AA, and fps never drops to a noticible level)

Also make sure youre settings are configured well (for driver and game), if none of that helps it could be the card, and you'll have to deal with dell, in which case the techsupport will probably have you reformat, yada yada yada, but by then you should have your CD's

Good luck.

Going to try some different drivers. Can you recommend some good drivers that can be OC'd and is user friendly? Used the handy template to get my cd's and i have recieved them next day air. Going to try new drivers, if that doesnt work here comes the reformat.

BF2 is a memory hog! I'd add another gig just because of that, you might also have a mem leak in another prog. scince the slowdown is coming in after the comp has been on for awhile. do a fresh install to get rid of the bloat, and if you can aford it get anothe gig of ram. Bf2 will benifit either way.
