notebook hard drive noise why are they different
Ok I have two notebook hard drives one 10.06gb and one 10.05gb both are IBM why is one so noisy and one just a buzz. I am going crazy over the noise its louder than the notebook fan. Any ideas? I was thinking one is older than the other. O ya both are 4200RPM.

Older notebook drives were noisy and inefficient. Newer ones are better.
The problem is that you have very little space in which you have to stuff the head, drive, drive motor, head actuator and electronics ![]() |

I mean I never used a noisy notebook hard drive before. I can usually sleep beside my notebook and I can't heard anything.

it is a question you have to ask, can you stand it, the noise that is? also how much do you really think you can get for it, it is really small by todays standards?
